Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't echo the positive sentiments of everyone else here.
Game always launches in a window and then switches to fullscreen after.
Game crashed upon launch several times, or on the menu in one instance. I was able to get in-game one time, but the game suffered from significant slowdown and crashed after about 10 minutes of play.
Typically crashes on menu or soon after.

If you're not interested in heavily modding the game, it runs perfectly out of the box.
Couldn't escape fullscreen without pressing Super, and after doing so and returning to the game, screen would occasionally flicker
Steam cloud save was missing, but I was able to manually import my save from Windows
Game crashed after Sega and Sonic Team logos with certain mods installed
Game works with most minor mods, but Proton just doesn't seem to be able to handle stuff like Chao World Extended.
Basically unplayable
Flickering textures
Significant slowdown, FMV stuttering
Had to manually kill program
Save from Windows is inaccessible.
Game runs flawlessly throughout most of the experience, but the last few stages experienced severe slowdown that I did not experience on Windows.
