-dx11
Without adding the -dx11 tag, the game wouldn't boot on my system.
Played zombies online and didn't run into any issues. I did not try the normal multiplayer mode.
Played a zombies game with friends, didn't have any issues in person. I did not try the normal multiplayer mode.
I went through a lot of headaches trying to get this thing to work. I tried every version of proton until I got to 4.11-13.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n,b" PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command%
I played zombies multiplayer specifically, I didn't experience any issues after downgrading proton.
When I initially tried launching this game with the proton version recommended, all that I had show up was a black rectangle. I had to downgrade all the way to 4.11-13 to get to a version that actually worked.
From there modding worked alright, as long as you remember to put the mods in the correct compatdata folder (10090).
If you want to use the T4M (r45) modifications for more more than 400 fx assets for some custom maps, in addition to adding the dll file to the root folder, you have to add WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n,b" %command% to your launch options. I also ended up needing to add PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 because it was having memory allocation errors and would crash about a minute into any game before I added it.
After getting all of this set up, the game works great. Even with mods that aren't supported by the base game alone.
-dx11 DXVK_ASYNC=1
Online does not work unless you are playing against another person using Linux
My game didn't launch without the -dx11 flag and I was experiencing stuttering until I added DXVK_ASYNC=1.
Game worked perfectly out of the box, didn't even have to set a proton verision.
Worked for me as long as I swapped over to Proton
Playing natively I was crashing about 5-6 times per session, my friends and I play with a decent amount of mods, around 300-400, so that could definitely be the cause for the crashing.
However, it seems like the Windows verion run through proton fairs much better, and after swapping over I haven't experienced a single crash.
Multiplayer worked just fine, played for a good long while and never experienced anything out of the ordinary
I ran this game with mods from r2modman and the mods worked just fine as well.
Works perfectly out of the box
Works just as I expected, some framerate issues but all of my friends on Windows are also having that. I think it's genuinely just a terribly optimized game. Also, don't turn on low latency mode. If you do that, the game doesn't get past the splash screen.
SteamDeck=1 %command%
After season 1 launched, it looks like you need to tell the game that you're running it on a steam deck, even if you aren't. Aside from that though everything still seems to work fine.
Doesn't Work on Linux Currently, Communication Error 1.49
Tried uninstalling PSPC_SDK from compatdata folder, reverifying, then launching again. This got rid of the error message that my Playstation SDK version was out of date, but did not let me in.
I don't have the full game, but I was trying to get the Guest Pass to work, which has all the same steps as the full version to at least log in and start playing, which is where I got stuck.
This error comes from the game not being able to read DLLs related to Playstation's SDK files, and is due to the fact that the game needs you to log into a PSN account.
Unfortunately, unlike God of War, which has a Steam Deck mode built in that lets you bypass this, or like Ghosts of Tsushima, where you can workaround it and play in offline mode, this game is completely online and completely requires the account.
VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_NV_low_latency2 %command%
WIthout adding the launch options I've added here, I was crashing about once per session. Afterwards though, it feels the exact same as playing on a Windows machine.
I will note that I tried this with an Nvidia graphics card as well on the exact same machine, and I was experiencing a ton of hitching and slowdowns whenever I entered new areas or looking that I hadn't looked at that session, not just in general. My screen was also just going to sleep in the middle of playing while using a controller, and I set my computer's screen to not go to sleep in order to fix that.
After swapping to an AMD card I haven't experienced any of that and it's been perfect.
-dx11
I had to add the flag -dx11 otherwise the game would throw a fatal error and wouldn't launch
