Alt+Tabbing can cause the game to close itself sometimes.
Had to disable Steam Input to get my DualSense to be detected. When binding triggers, you have to very gently tap them otherwise the trigger will bind to multiple inputs.
In Openbox, using ToggleAlwaysOnTop
will allow you to escape fullscreen with Alt-Tab.
A error window saying "Debug version has been selected for DirectX run time. Application may not run on intended performance." appears when starting the game, but this can be dismissed by clicking the OK button. You may not be able to bypass this without a way to control a mouse or keyboard.
The game will start and allow you to start playing, but will crash at a random time a few minutes into play
Set the operating system in the prefix to use Windows 7 using the command protontricks 976730 win7

Halo 3 had no sound until I used Protontricks to set the operating system to Windows 7. Reach did not require this for me.

Returning from an Expedition in DirectX12 mode causes the game to slow to a crawl, rendering a frame every 30+ seconds and slowing down the entire system.
This game relies on nProtect GameGuard, an anticheat implementation that uses a kernel driver that Wine currently cannot handle.
A character creator benchmark exists for this game that successfully runs in Wine as it does not have any anticheat implemented. A translated version of the benchmark can be found on the Arks Layer website.
Apart from the opening video not playing, I have not found any issues
Opening video does not appear, showing a TV test signal instead
Left and right triggers are treated as the same axis, which causes the game to think the right trigger is pressed when it isn't.
The game treats the left and right triggers on a controller as the same axis. Typically, developers design around this limitation by detecting which direction the axis goes to tell what trigger is being pressed. When no trigger is being pressed, the axis should be neutral.
For some reason, the game believes that when no triggers are pressed, the right trigger is being pressed the minimum amount which causes your character to constantly shoot. Hold down the left trigger and the shooting stops.
Without mods, there is a method, albeit a hacky one to work around this issue. Open Steam's controller configuration settings for the game, select the infinity icon, then select LT in the controller diagram on the right. This will cause the left trigger to always be pressed, which takes the axis out of the range where the game thinks the right trigger is pressed.
After doing that, select the true left trigger and unbind it by selecting Full Pull Action then selecting the "no entry"/empty icon. This leaves the left trigger unbound, but the right trigger is still used to shoot.
Unfortunately this makes the "centre camera" function unavailable, but at least you now have a spare button to bind something else to! :P
From there you'll want to configure the right trigger to make it far more sensitive to compensate for the left trigger being held all the time. Reduce the Trigger Range End value to do this.
Using Openbox. Using ToggleAlwaysOnTop
on the game window allows me to Alt+Tab away from the game.
Without sound effects you're missing voice lines and sounds that play during platforming & combat.
While the music plays correctly, sound effects cut out shortly after entering a room. They come back when entering another room, but then disappear again a few seconds after. This includes all voice lines.
Most audio do not play
Most audio does not play, including menu sounds, voice lines and other sound effects. This is identical to the audio issue that Touhou Double Focus has as well.
