Smooth! out of the box.If you want to play multiplyer switch from Default to Proton in the launcher that should solve SHiFT connection issue
Couldn't play with friends on recommended (default) launcher settings, The game couldn't connect to SHiFT acount and I didn't see the starting menu "splashscreen" from the game before it launches. Switched to Proton 9.0-4 and it solved the problem. Everything works perfect! Even windows save files worked once copied from windows instal folder to linux instal folder (change the name from Save0001 to save0001 [capital "S" to "s"] and put them in the appriopriate folder)
without tinkering my game couldnt pass the intro video, as soon as video ended my game was closing down, switching to proton 9.0-4 fixed that issue and the game works pretty much the same way as on windows .Main menu background is kinda messed up and looks like a broken CRT monitor but all buttons are clear. I had to disable the battle eye as i was getting an error that the battle eye installed incorrectly and the game was switching off, once I've disabled battle eye the game just runs like on windows. no problem with isntalling Savage wilds mod or AoC mod either

I got a steam key for a playtest, when I tried to switch it on I got a popup message "The program encountered E111000B at 00001883during initialization. Wine, Proton, and Steam Deck are not supported by this application!"

without tinkering there was a very significant input lag on my keyboard, LD_PRELOAD="" %command% , fixed that (all Razer peripherals seems to be doing fine) . Had to do the usual in game GFX setup for the proper performance optimisation but that's a standard practice for me.

I have a report about this game from 3 weeks ago. I changed a few things since. Changed the environment from cinnamon to xfce and switched off compositor (a game changer!!!) Every problem I had on my previous setup just dissapeard once I switched the environment and compositor off, to the point where no tinkering was required, just install and play.
