The game plays extremely well, if only you were able to progress past the quest From the ground up. Media Foundation is installed.
Does not appear to work with Steam Cloud saves as of now.
Unable to progress past the quest "From the Ground up" Unable to view the monitor.
If anyone knows of a fix to progress past the monitor quest in the beginning. I'd love to hear it.
Since I started plaything a week a go, cloud saves now work for me and I was able to get the mf fix to work by instead running WINEPREFIX=/path/to/compatdata/appid/pfx winetricks mf - Be sure to install Winetricks first before running this command. Intro video works and I can now proceed past the beginning tutorial.
After performing the renaming and linking as others have stated, this game runs perfectly at a solid 60 FPS. Important to note, I had to perform the renaming and linking before the game would launch after which no issues experienced. Also note, multiplayer was not tested.
Update to a previous post: I have since tested multiplayer for 10+ hours and it runs perfectly with no issues. It's also worth mentioning as I know others have had different results with it, but during my multiplayer session I was able to switch between desktops for browsing the web and chatting via discord and everything continued to run smooth and stable when swapping back to the game.
Attempting to run the game in either Solo play or Online play results in the Social screen popping up and stating it's an incorrect version and will not go further.
I have played this game for well over 25 hours with 20 of those hours being spent online. I did have to use WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d %command% as others have stated and then online play worked perfectly. I get a steady 60-100 FPS depending on the area.
Still requires Launch command WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d %command% to play online. I've logged 123 hours of online play so far.
Performance wise FPS was lower then I'd like out of the box but after disabling v-sync I was able to sustain around 50-60 FPS with no issues. No issues with the play experience, all controls work as expected. There is still an issue where the game crashes to the desktop if you attempt to play any of the Tutorial videos available for the different weapons. Overall I was impressed how well it worked out of the box.
Have to disable DX11 but once switched to DX9 things run well. There is some stutter on new zones and an occasional crash to desktop.
Proton v5.0.3 seemed to make this play even better. Overall very impressed from beginning to end game.
First and only crash was during the VHS video tape that you play as you enter the West Wing of the nest. Starts playing and will randomly crash during playback.
Runs very smooth after what I assume is some initial caching. I have frames capped at 90 and remains pretty steady.
Plays fantastic with latest Proton release
Unable to see Character model at selection screen on initial startup but is fixed when you load the game once and exit back to the character select screen.
The game runs almost flawlessly. I didn't have to make any tweaks to get this game up and running, runs great out of the box. The only con that I have is for some studdering that happens from time to time which I'm guessing has to do with preshader caching. Other then that I have settings on high with v-sync enabled and I'm getting a pretty steady 60 FPS.
Have not run into any issues as of yet. So far running flawless with graphic settings set to Highest at 1920x1080. I get between 80 and 100 FPS depending on where I am at in the environment. Typically, only falling to low 80's when things get really busy. I'm not sure Feral needs to spend time porting this title with as well as it runs in Proton. Well done Steam. Keep up the great work.
Update to a previous post - Since the latest proton update, this game not only runs flawlessly for me but there has been almost zero studdering in new areas or during cinematics. Plays almost smooth as butter.
Runs flawless out of the box with Ultra settings and resolution of 1920x1080
Don't kill the game launcher on the first initial launch, give it time. It took about 2 minutes on both my systems to launch. After the client updates it launches as normal.
