Game runs real smooth. 60fps is doable, but opted for locked 40fps at 9-10W, medium settings in game with the two options last in the list ticked off as they impacted performance a lot (global shadows and something else, can't remember). This gave me close to 3 hours unplugged.
Good game with fun action. Played both on steam deck and docked to my TV. While docked, i opted for either:
A. Run at 30 fps, medium-high settings at 1080p (15W ofc)
B. Run at well over 40fps with medium settings, set gamescope to 1080p but render the game at just below (720p or 900p) and upscale with gamescope FSR.
Either way, great docked experience
Runs great, looks great. Controller input is where the age of the game shows itself, but can be improved slightly by a mouse fix mod.
Did the mouse fix mod that many have recommend. Not needed for a good time, but improves the cluncy mouse / controller input a bit.
Played the game mostly docked and rendered in native 4K 60fps at max settings. Mostly locked fps, some minor dropps during heavy action scenes. For conpletely locked framerate, you may as well use gamescope fsr to render at 1440p and upscale to 4K, which still looks amazing.
Runs well graphic and input wise (when D3D12 is selected), but experienced frequent crashes every 30-60 minutes both single player and coop.
Input lag seems to be fixed by selecting D3D12 instead of D3D11
Crashes every 30-60 minutes, both single player and coop. Switching to D3D12 did fix the input lag as previously mentioned, but did not solve the crashes as some had mentioned it did for them
Did try to add the following launch options as another user had reported no issues when he had them, but they made no difference to me.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr %command%
Cap the fps to 30 via gamescope and keep the original graphics preset will give you the best experience.
30 fps cap and TDP set to 10-12W. 40 fsp cap is possible with FSR but not in all areas. FSR looks pretty bad so it's better to lock it to 30 and gain some battery time in the process.
Sound got desynced in cutscenes only. Not a deal breaker, but worth noting.
God of War suffers from a pretty serious memory leak, which will most likely cause a crash in anything from 1-2hours. Did first notice it after roughly 20 hours of in game time, mostly because of my short gaming sessions not triggering the crashes before hand.
On the edge about calling this "verified". In general it is a good experience but the memory leak, desynced audio in cutscenes and demanding performance the game does not offer a "console-like" experience.
Pretty bad FSR implementation, so better of just running it at native. 40fps is doable in most areas, but in the end I opted for 30fps and blend between medium and high settings at 12-13W
Text is a bit too small
Some stuttering probably due to shader cache.
Capped FPS at 40, rendered the game at 1152x768 and upsampled via gamescope FSR. Minor visual impact but increased the frame timing, which made the game feel a bit more smooth.
EA launcher is a bit annoying. Does not support offline play for example.
Seemed a bit blurry and tad bit too small (even at native resolution)
Some serious stuttering, probably due to shader cache. Frame timing is also all over the place, but could limit most of it by rendering the game at a lower resolution.
A bit small especially when playing docked on a mid-size TV
Runs great both docked and portable.
