I played from beginning to end. It works really well.
There were some stutters here and there. Specially when entering areas. But nothing big.
It worked perfectly, just like the main game
I don't think it's relevant to say this, but I would like to add that I only played it on standard difficulty. I also tried Bernard, but it's just too hard for me.
The game runs perfect, with gamepad and everything. I've finished the main story, and got almost 100% completion. The only problem is that it will freeze forever when exiting and you have to kill it.
I beat the game and replayed the levels multiple times. It worked flawlessly the whole time.
When using Proton 4.2-3 the game would constantly crash at the end of cutscenes. Using 3.16-9, as suggested by other people, resolved the issue. Then, I played with joystick from start to finish, including Jetstream's and Wolf Blade's chapters.
Fullscreen and some aliasing worked for me, but only at the lowest settings. When choosing medium in "Graphic Quality", the game would work, but there would be a heavy frame rate drop when slicing enemies too much. And I would get a blank screen with the option high. Playing on lowest settings didn't stop me from enjoying the game.
I played from beginning to end with maximum settings and PhysX off. Most of the time it was super smooth. But there were times when, for no apparent reason (super random), the frame rate dropped really bad for 2 or 3 seconds. It didn't happen often though.
I also tried some chapters back again with PhysX on, which my GTX 1060 should support. And even though it kinda worked (particles and ripping the flags with shots), frame rate was terribly low. Even with all the settings on the minimum values. But the game is super enjoyable with PhysX disabled any way.
I also tried GE-Proton8-25, besides the default Proton.
The game would crash after an hour or so. Unfortunetely, it's unplayable to me in this state.
Although it stutters a lot in the beginning, it's very playable for the rest of the game
The game would stutter like hell in the beginning of the game (almost unplayable). I tried to change some graphical options to no avail. However, the more I played, the less it stuttered. After 1 or 2 hours playing, I would rarely see any stutters anymore. Some stutter would still happen when I got to new areas. I suspect the stutter could be due to some shader compilation thing (I might be talking nonsense here).
Works really well.
My entire computer would freeze after 2+ hours playing, and I had to force shutdown. Maybe it was the game, or maybe it was some overheat in the CPU. I don't know.
I played the entire game from begging to end with high graphics. There were a few stutters sometimes, but nothing that really gets in the way of having fun. I saved frequently because occasionally I'd have crashes.
It works pretty well. I used Ubuntu for most of my campaign.
The main issue for me was that VSync was not working at all.
Performance on Windows is a little bit better.
It worked perfectly right off the bat. Even my joystick worked with no tweaking at all.
The game worked perfectly for me through the whole campaign.
After I beat the game, I finally found the settings for graphics. I put it on the "high" preset, tried it again for a few minutes and it worked all fine. Then, however, I tweaked the graphics I bit more and the game was all blurry all the time. Switching back to the "normal" preset fixed it, but the "high" preset stopped working (all blurry). No idea why.
