Totally playable, but frequent hitching will frustrate you
Pressing any key during cutscenes causes the game to freeze for a few seconds before resuming; this also seems to make it impossible to skip cutscenes.
During gameplay, particularly the taxi chase scene, the game semi-randomly freezes for a few seconds repeatedly; it seems to be some kind of caching issue.
APPEARS to work well after an hour of play. Performance is a problem for Windows and Linux alike, so it's just the game.
I tried to play multiple times, but the game always froze when interacting with the radio tower gate at the very beginning.
I didn't believe I was having AVX issues, but the AVX fix is the only thing I could find to try, so I followed WormholeX's NexusMods post to open Cyberpunk2077.exe in a hex editor and change the single occurrence of "55 48 81 ec a0 00 00 00 0f 29 70 e8" to "c3 48 81 ec a0 00 00 00 0f 29 70 e8".
No more freezing after about an hour of play.
The game used to work for me out-of-the-box, but coming back to it, it freezes and has to be force-quit after a couple of seconds.
Installing https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1873/disable-unredirect-fullscreen-windows/ fixed it and the game runs like normal again. More information can be found at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/1522.
The fix may not be needed if the game doesn't start in fullscreen for you, but it typically reverts to fullscreen regardless of what I've had it set to.
Getting to the main menu works out of the box, but in order to get the RealTone cable to work:
Run "WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/221680/pfx winetricks sound=alsa"
Run "WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/221680/pfx winecfg" and change your Audio Input Device to the RealTone cable
Right-click Rocksmith in Steam and go to Manage -> Browse local files, then open Rocksmith.ini and change ExclusiveMode=1 and Win32UltraLowLatencyMode=1 to "=0"
I didn't have to stop PulseAudio.
