Ran pretty much perfectly out of the box with the latest Proton. No tweaking required.
Steam Input must be disabled for controllers to work properly. Unconfirmed here, but some controllers may have issues with analog movement.
Steam Cloud does not work out of the box. NAMCO BANDAI does not respect the system APPDATA directory and instead seems to have hardcoded Steam Cloud to pick up save data in "/Application Data/BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment/Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition/Saved/SaveGames/<...>"
This behavior works properly on a Windows environment but does not translate to where Proton stores savedata.
This can be worked around by creating a symbolic link between where Proton stores the savedata and where Steam Cloud expects the savedata to be located.
- BACK UP YOUR ORIGINAL SAVEFILE (It is found in <...>/compatdata/1042550/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local)
- use 'ln -s' to create a symbolic link between <...>compatdata/1042550/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment" and "/usr/hdd/steamgames/steamapps/compatdata/1042550/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment".
Note that if you have played the game under WIndows or another computer with the above workaround, you may already have save data copied. If your linux saves are more recent then your steam cloud saves, you will have to put the more recent saves into the correct directory manually.
Does not run out of the box, but, bizarrely, worked through Proton when I ran the game once through Lutris with Proton's prefix set. Appears to run properly with some longer-then-normal loading times and a few FPS dips. Ran through one quest.
Cutscenes do not work; the game will not load them. Attempting to install 'devenum' and 'quartz' or set them to 'Native' does not appear to work. Esync will cause the game to freeze on launch.
Proton-6.10-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton Experimental or GloriousEggroll's latest release: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases
This game used to suffer from an infinite loading bug in Proton versions prior to 6.8. It is unknown as to what causes this problem, but using either Proton Experimental or GE-6.9 or later causes missions to (finally) load properly.
The game now appears to run more or less perfectly in gameplay, though I have not currently had much of a chance to test as throughly as I would like.
Will not run thanks to SEGA's insistence on using Gameguard.
Running GE Proton-5.9-GE-4-ST. Will install, and even run for a few moments before dying with NP0, which is a Gameguard related error.
Gameguard is already known not to work on Linux thanks to using a kernel driver, so it's unlikely this game will ever work unless SEGA decides to remove it.
It's amazing that Gameguard works now, but between the stuttering and connection issues, the game is far from properly playable.
The game will run with a constant stutter. It's notable that I've noticed this very slight suttering on Windows, but this becomes very significant on Linux. This oftentimes comes when the game is loading new models or content, and the freezes can last for a few seconds in some instances - especially when logging into the city.
NGS: In addition to the constant stuttering, the game will freeze on loading screens for a period of time and even disconnect. The only way around this is to ensure that the render distance in NGS is set to 1.
PSO2: PSO2 Vanilla will still freeze and hang, but not for long enough to disconnect.
Additionally, the graphical issues and stuttering in such a fast-paced game will make it more difficult then usual.
Requires 'dxcompiler_47' to run.
Seems to have trouble with resolutions. In order to fix, go into Settings->Graphics and set to Windowed, then Alt-Tab out and back in. Then set your resolution to the correct resolution for your monitor.
It is also possible to go into your compatdata folder (compatdata/257030/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/ProjectNimbus/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor) and modify the GameUserSettings.ini file with the correct settings directly.
Performance seems significantly worse compared to Windows - game is relatively choppy given the age and hardware.
Launcher does not work. Will display a black window with no controls when you attempt to boot the game. However, the launcher can be bypassed by entering 'complete' as an advanced launch option.
Requires 'd3dcompiler_47' to launch.

After some more playing, performance seems to vary, but seems better then I had originally thought.
The launcher does not work and will generate a black window when launching. Fortunately, the launcher can be bypassed by adding '%command% complete' as an advanced launch option.
Requires a fix patch to work at all, but is playable after customization: https://www.moddb.com/mods/jedi-knight-remastered/news/jedi-knight-remastered-installer-for-jkgfxmod
Singleplayer works out of the box. Multiplayer requires DirectPlay installed through protontricks (if not installed, the Multiplayer options will appear as garbage and won't work).
Music did not appear to play.
Make sure that you have 3D Acceleration enabled and not Software mode.
Make sure the sensitivity is turned all the way down.
DXVK /DX11 works properly with the latest Proton beta & the NVIDIA Vulkan Beta drivers (396.54.09, contains the 'VK_transform_feedback' extension). Note that if you are using the latest mainstream driver that textures will not load properly.
'--force-opengl' works as well, but I experienced degraded performance. However, this will make the graphics look proper if you aren't using a driver/Proton version that supports transform feedback. Game performs about as expected.
Use the latest Experimental branch to fix mouse bugs.
