Lower framerate than Windows, but rock steady execution
Sadly, there's quite a significant performance drop, from a steady 144frames (max on my monitor) on Windows to hovering around 110fps on Linux. But 100% playable and enjoyable. It's just... In competitive shooters every frame counts. I'm still gonna play it on Linux though, just to salute them for at least supporting EAC for Linux.
Excellent performance, no degradations from Windows
I wrote in an earlier review that I experienced lower framerate than Windows, but that was due to a setting I had endabled in the game, "adaptive supersampling" -> Turn that off and the game blast off like a speedboat. I can't seem to edit earlier reports, hence this new one. This one is pure plat.
Worth noticing is that this game froze during startup on latest experimental as well as 9.x and 8.x. But runs flawlessly on 7, no issues whatsoever. It would have been interesting to know why...!
I experienced no crashes, no audio or texture glitches at all. Ran OOTB.
Considering the graphics it should run a lot smoother on this card. My native screen resolution is 3440x1440, I had to go down to 2560×1080 to obtain a frame rate of 40-50. But then it's definitely playable.
"Medium" graphics setting. No custom launch options (they didn't make a difference for me).
Runs out of the box, Proton Experimental, had two crashes in 20 hours, really stable performance. CP2077 patch 1.23.
Starts when there's no savegames
as soon as I save my game, it won't start the next time. Delete the savegames from disk and it starts again.
Audio running. No predictable behavior:
Sometimes nothing starts, sometimes the launcher in unresponsive state, sometimes launcher OK but game crash, RARE times the game starts. I try to restart Steam, log out/in, try to do the exact same as when it started... The outcome is completely random. Sometimes the launcher doesn't pop up, sometimes I am logged in on GOG in the launcher, sometimes I need to log in again... There's just NO patterns to find...!
I followed advice here, sometimes the game started but usually not. Seemed totally random. Then I found a pattern:
If I do NOT play any sound on the system when starting the launcher, and THEN turn on sound (youtube, spotify, whatever) before I start the game, then the game will consistently run. Finally!
Freeze almost instantly during boot, on the Unreal 4 logo
With Proton experimental it even crashed the entire Steam VR engine. With Proton 5.13-6 VR doesn't crash, but game hangs.
Borked with the latest version (may 22) - freeze on the first visual with language selection
After initial freeze it runs better than before in new patch (May 22)
The first few times it froze at first - but then all of a sudden it started and from then on runs flawlessly - in fact much better than the version prior.
Ran like a charm right out of the box, install and hit play. Tried it with both Steam controller and Logitech F710.
On Index: Left controller trigger not releasing the ball
Left controller trigger is not mapped correctly on Valve Index - it won't release the ball properly - leaving the game unplayable.
Seems to crash during startup - game is loading then all of a sudden I return to Home.
Runs perfectly once regional settings is English!
You need to to switch Date, time & regional formatting to English if you use a different localisation!
Other than the mentioned audio issue this game runs flawlessly! Played both on keyboard and gamepad, single and local coop.
Some maps have a very distorted, noisy atmosphere audio channel - it's completely unbearable. When playing those maps you need to turn off that sound in the settings. Luckily other sounds works independently.
I see others get it to work, but for me it crashes during startup, I am only returned to Home again.
Ran 100% out of the box, with good implementation of the Valve Index controllers.
And it's a great game too! :)
