Switched to Proton. The native version crashes with a Segmentation Fault
Huge performance issues. I have not messed with too many settings, just enough to get it to launch.
~20fps on absolute minimum settings
Will not launch without "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %COMMAND%" in the launch options. Otherwise I get this error: "Screen: DX11 could not switch resolution (1680x1050 fs=1 hz=0)"
Screens don't appear, menu is very broken
Screens are not visible
Desktop+ doesn't properly show the screens. I highly doubt it'll work at all unless a native version is made due to the nature of how screen recording works. WLX Overlay S is native to Linux and does properly support screen viewing, so I highly recommend trying it if you need a way to see your screens in VR
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
The game doesn't provide a way to set a direct FPS cap, only providing a V-Sync toggle. I'd recommend launching the game through MangoHUD to set an FPS cap manually
Closes after around 3 minutes of running
Completely Borked on Native and Proton
OVR Advanced Settings is entirely Borked both Natively and through Proton. It launches, runs for a few minutes, then crashes.
WLX Overlay S is my preferred alternative, though you'll need to install it from github.
Multiple bundled libraries must be removed due to strange glibc compilations
The game bundles all the libraries it needs for the Native version, but several of them are compiled with a "private" glibc version, which ends up throwing errors and crashing the game. If you work through the logged errors, you can find and remove the problematic libraries until the game runs
Occasional lag spikes, typically when seeing other players for the first time
Only works on Proton 5.0-10 from my testing, including two ProtonGE versions, Proton 5.13-6, Proton 6.3-3, and Proton Experimental
Quit Game button does not work, must Alt+F4 to close the game
Added a DLL Override for winhttp.dll
to allow workshop mods to apply
Adding a DLL override for winhttp.dll is required for modding. Everything else works perfectly
Game ran perfectly just as it would on Windows. Even VR was working just fine without any tinkering specific to this game
Multiplayer failed to work on my normal Proton version (GE-Proton9-7), due to a Steamworks API initialization error. Switching to Proton 9.0-4 fixed the issue
Mostly works, mod creation is completely broken though, trying to use mod files causes a crash on start up.
Significant performance drop on what should run perfectly fine on my system.
using "WINEDEBUG=-all" and "__GL_THREADED_OPTIMZATIONS=1" gave the game a massive performance boost compared to not using them at all.
When running with previously mentioned tags, it can cause audio stuttering in other applications that are using audio.
Mouse movement felt noticeably delayed
The game gets confused if you alt-tab, causing the game to speed up to catch up
The required webcame setup is quite a bit of work for the average person to figure out, but if you don't mind tinkering, it's only one time
Wine does not pass in the webcam, so a workaround is required to use webcam-based tracking
