The default controls are mapped to keyboard input, which is mostly not replicated “out of the box” by the buttons on the Steam Deck. Most buttons on the Steam Deck are recognized during remapping, however the R1, R1, L4, L5, R4 and R5 buttons aren’t detected.
Most buttons on the Steam Deck are recognized during remapping, however the R1, R1, L4, L5, R4 and R5 buttons aren’t detected. Menu input can only be achieved by using the touchscreen (i.e. you cannot move around the menu using the buttons).
As noted, the controls need to be remapped because by default, they are mapped to the keyboard; with the exception of the R1, R1, L4, L5, R4 and R5 buttons, all of the Steam Deck buttons are detected. Menu input only works using the touchscreen; one cannot navigate the menu using the buttons on the Steam Deck. Text cannot be entered, as the on-screen keyboard does not appear - however text input is only rquired at limited times during the game (such as when naming one's profile). The "recent games" artwork for the Steam Deck is missing, but all other game-related artwork appears to be displayed without issue on the Steam Deck.
This game looks fantastic and for the most part, plays well, despite the fact that this is a free game that is not (officially) Steam Deck compatible... And for the most part, it performs well.
There are a few minor quibbles, which I have noted; but if you love ice skating and don't mind spending 5-10 minutes setting this game up, you'll probably enjoy it.
Runs flawlessly under a Linux-based operating system.
- Using the Xbox Wireless Controller for input works perfectly, with full force feedback (vibration) support;
- Cut scenes are flawless;
- Video and audio has no issues, nor does the menu;
- Gameplay was smooth with no obvious bugs or performance impact.
I played the "prologue" level under both "original" and "RePop" modes, for my testing.
Despite its rating from Valve Software (at the time of writing), this game appears to run just fine on the Steam Deck, with no issues.
For most actions in the game, the default controls are set to keyboard keys; I needed to re-map those actions to the Steam Deck buttons, using the in-game menu.
Interaction with menus must be done using either the touchscreen of the touchpad on the right of the Steam Deck.

For the single-player (offline) game, I tried running this game using the launch options suggested by other ProtonDB users, however all the game did was immedialtely crash after the SteamOS launch / loading screen. In addition to the launch options, I also manually switched the game to Japanese (Properties...-->Lanuage) and tried all of the available Proton versions one-by-one, up to Proton Experimental and Proton 10.0-1 Beta (which were the latest at the time of writing), however ther was no change and the game would crash as soon as I tried to launch it.
The multiplayer (online) game would launch with the default options, but it would not work with an external controller and when one clicks 'Login', they are told "Retry connection" (i.e. you cannot get any further than the title screen).
Completely broken, will not run.
I have tried running this native title with and without Proton, without success.
I have tried:
- Multiple version of Proton, with no change;
- All of the launch options suggested by other users here, with no change;
- Running the game natively (without Proton), with no change.
The closest I can get to actually running this game is when trying to run it natively, and setting the launch option to play X-Blades (i.e. go straight into the game) which causs the launcher to appear, but the game crashes as soon as you try to run the game from the launcher.
