I had no issues playing Crab Champions. It runs well, and doesn't feel horrible even when there is an over abundance of particle effects on the screen.
If you're having issues with the native version not working like I did, give Proton a shot. It works without any issues and runs smooth as butter for me.
Flawless experience
Have been playing patch 3.26 (Mercenary League) with equivalent performance and stability to Windows. No crashes or errors during slightly juiced content. Overall a great experience!

Black Screen
As others have noted without configuration you'll have mostly a black screen. After configuring with the launch options, I then had to go into Plasma settings -> Window Management -> Window Rules -> Create a rule for Rusty's. Overall pretty painless, took me maybe a couple minutes of tinkering with the position in the Window Rules area before I was happy with its placement and able to focus on the game.
It just works, and has flawlessly for the past 12 hours of this playthrough so far.
