Upon start of game you see the cursor and hear the background music, but just get a black screen, regardless of the window mode (windowed, borderless, or fullscreen). One time I saw the flash of the top left half a logo very briefly, but instantly went away. Tried Proton 4.2 and 4.11 which didn't work. Wouldn't even boot on proton 3.X
Use proton (not native) version for controller support
When running with the native linux version, my xbox, switch, nor generic controller would be detected with or without steam input. Switched to using proton version and all controllers were detected and game was playable no problem.
Tried to get this working for a while, but the game constantly crashes every 10-20 minutes in a way that hard-locks the entire OS and requires me to physically reset the computer. Because of this, I can't really diagnose the root problem. Crashes seem to occur less often when turning off Z-prepass, and also using an older version of Proton (3.16), however this doesn't solve the issue. After trying for several hours tweaking settings, I still haven't been able to make it through a quest without crashing, making it impossible to progress in the game.
Wired xbox 360 controller wouldn't work at all no matter what I tried (changing proton versions including various GE versions, trying different USB controllers, etc). Don't have this issue with the xbox controller in any other games. Wired switch pro controller appeared to work fine.
Works much better with Proton. I get probably about +50% FPS using Proton vs Linux Native. Controller rumble also works with proton, and doesn't with native. Would definitely recommend using proton. Didn't have to tweak any settings.
