Window fully transparent, audio works but can't see anything
I was unable to play with GE8-3, Proton Experimental, Proton 7 or any of the recommented custom commands
It works perfectly fine as soon as you work around what's officially called the black screen issue. There is no patch for it yet I think.
Force compatdata/1182900/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/A Plague Tale Requiem/ENGINESETTINGS to FullscreenBorderless 0
The game has to be forced to pure Window mode, it will glitch, but after switcing windows (in my case against Firefox) and coming back will fix the problem. After that it works fine.
The game is a ffected by a really strange bug. In my case the problem seems to be something on the driver/X11/WM side. Once I edit the engine settings to force pure window mode, it will start as a transparent window, but "alt-tabbing" to another application and coming back fixes it. After that the game runs perfectly fine (no glitches/fps slownesss/graphical degradation or anything else)
Doesn't start
The game tries starting but it only opens the Wine system tray then it crashes. I couldn't find anything significant on the Proton logs but here's a dump for anyone to see (until march 26th) https://dpaste.org/Fz0O
Broken, both native and windows
Tried both the Feral native version and multiple proton versions, I just get a segfault, (doesn't even manage to start)
Show the intro viddeos and then crashes
First you will have to log into uplay (be sure to mark the remember me checkbox) and reddeem the game code if it doesn't appear in your library. After that close everything and run the game from steam again. It will start, show some intro videos and then crash.
For me it has been install and run, no problems whatsoever except for audio out of sync during the cutscenes ONLY
Audio is completely out of sync during cutscenes, reaching up to 4 seconds of delay which usually means that you already heard the conversation and the animation is still going, hopefully you can skip with spacebar on most of them and keep it a bit more "natural"
Minor artifacts in characters mouths or leaves, nothing noticeable unless you're looking for it
Slight speed problems that create out of sync audio when in dialogues
Regarding performance, in my case in ultra settings I get around 30-40 FPS, and in performance mode around 94 FPS average. Didn't see any performance degradation.
Doesn't work out of the box. .According to most reports due to Proton not supporting the DRM
I wasn't able to start the game at all
I've tried Proton 4.11-13 and 5.0-5 with no luck. I also had issues with MIDI that I solved (I needed a MIDI server) but that didn't help. The game just crashes even when it's run manually through DOSBox
Unable to run (somehow)
The game starts, according to Steam, but it never shows a window. No sign at all that the game is actually running. Tested on Arch Linux with Proton 5.0-4
Graphics can't go past medium without crashing
It's a blast from the past, it requires some tinkering since it's an old game, but it's definitely worth it
As others mentioned. Copy the DLLs from dgVoodoo2 into the game and launch with options: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ddraw=n" %command%
Stutter when notifications overlay
The games tries to initiate with DirectX and fails, but it inmediately restarts with OpenGL and everything works fine.
Doesn't work (EAC broken)
No servers without EAC available. Manual server load tries to connect and fails due to EAC
