In Lutris, select Configure -> Runner options and enable the Windowed (virtual desktop) to allow alt-tab in and out of game. Only issue is that custom keyboard shortcuts stops working after a alt-tab (gets reverted to default shortcuts), possibly a game issue and not Linux related.
Game occasionally crashes. Not sure if it is Linux related.
Need to configure steam to use proton (steam -> settings -> Steam Play -> Enable Steam Play for all other titles), then off you go!
Runs fine so far (2 hours)
Only played for 2 hours, but have no issues. Initially menu was lagging, but turned down some graphics settings based on https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/949230/view/3744239011016263869 . Depth of field mode to "disabled" seems to help a lot.
See ~75% VRAM usage and GPU usage maxed out, CPU around 40% total usage. 50-60 fps at 1920x1080x60 goes down to 40-50 with 2560x1440x60.
Works great
Crash on exiting game
As others have mentioned: Need to configure steam to use proton (steam -> settings -> Steam Play -> Enable Steam Play for all other titles), then off you go!
Game crashes/hangs on exit, otherwise no problems seen, no lag experienced after playing a few hours.
Had a weird issue with my Logitech M500s mouse, which apparently has two different ways to push down on the middle mouse button; only one of which is recognized by the operating system as the middle mouse button (i.e. not a issue with this game).
Only issue is that keyboard/mouse input does not work with a controller connected to the computer. Tried to disable controller inputs in steam without success, works if I disconnect the controller before starting the game.
Note: Steam backup currently not supported, backup your save!
Played more than 250 hours with largest base a 6 science per second base without performance issues.
As others have mentioned: Need to configure steam to use proton (steam -> settings -> Steam Play -> Enable Steam Play for all other titles), then off you go!
Works great, had to switch nvidia driver from default "X.Org" to Nvidia proprietary in the "Additional Drivers" Software & Updates utility. Note that videos in Tutorials does not seem to show up (blank), not game breaking as you can read the text or watch a few youtube videos.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Performance: Usually okay performance, but sometimes significant lag, restarting game helps (memory leak?)
Tweaking graphic settings is tedious as it involves restarting the game for most changes. Playing on fullscreen, 1920x1080, quality preset "medium" turned up view distance, textures and anti-aliasing.
eval $( echo "%command%" | sed "s/PDLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/KSP2_x64.exe'/" )
Proton-GE 7.49 fixes videos, important for tutorial, game crash on alt-tab. Experimental proton allows alt-tab but no video.
Around 20-40 FPS with graphics set to High, 1080p. Not a shooter game, so higher FPS is not strictly needed, perfectly playable.
10 hours in, just hit play and off I went. Multiplayer also works without issues.
