The game will only work in PROTON 4.2-9
The first time i ran the game it got to the loading screen but never progressed so i exited the game and ran it again but in safe mode which ran perfect, i then exited and loaded the game again and it worked perfect.
Unable to play since Proton 5
Been playing this game for years, sadly when proton 5 came it out never worked for me but Proton 4.11-13 worked fine with PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 MANGOHUD=1 MANGOHUD_CONFIG=cpu_temp,gpu_temp,position=top-left,width=405 RADV_PERFTEST=aco %command%
BUT after the most recent "64" bit update i cant even play on 4.11-13 i get a "steam isnt running error"

Need to lower quality of audio for game to work
I used to sync error immediately but now
TaiFu commands helped me play the game for 30 seconds before crashing
Taifu are you using any other steam commands to make the game work?

Multiplayer doesnt work
I did not need any launch commands I did not turn my sound quality to low
Step 1: DELETE ALL OF COH2 ... i mean all of it.. go into your
Step 1a: Go to steam > Right Click COH2 > Manage > Uninstall
Step 1b: Delete /home/$USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/231430
Step 1c: Delete /home/$USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Company of Heroes 2/
WARNING You need to know your Steam username and password because CLEARING DOWNLOAD CACHE will force you to login to steam again
Step 1d: Steam > settings > Downloads > CLEAR Download Cache
Step 2: Redownload COH 2
Step 3: Try to run it with Proton 5.0-10 and it will crash most likely
Step 4: Run the following in the terminal
cd /home/$USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/231430/pfx/drive_c/windows/system32/

cabextract vc_redist.x64.exe
cabextract a10
Step 5: Right Click COH2 > Properties > Compatibility > 5.0.10
Then it magically works.....

Game worked flawlessly on my system
Didnt work in 4.11.4
I used Steam play 4.2.9

Online multiplayer doesnt work
i was able to use 2 steam controllers locally on the same computer flawlessly
Unable to play LOCAL CoOp
Unable to get BOTH steam controllers working in Local CoOp mode Works great in Windows
Unable to play LOCAL CoOp because i cant get BOTH steam controllers to work as player 1 and player 2
BOTH steam controllers work in browsing the game menus and EITHER controller can work as Player 1 BUT i cant get a second controller to work as Player 2, very sad
