Massive stuttering, memory leak during certain animations
Contact with shinobis cause massive memory leaks (rapidly ran out of ram with 32GB)
Performance issues ruin the game on my hardware. Might be fine on significantly better hardware.
Proton-6.19-GE-2
Loading saved games from native does not work out of the box. To make both versions use the same save files, start the proton version, and close it without making a save file and run the following commands (note that this does also delete proton saves if you made any there:
rm -rf $STEAMLIBRARY/steamapps/compatdata/899770/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/Eleventh\ Hour\ Games/Last\ Epoch/Saves
ln -s ~/.config/unity3d/Eleventh\ Hour\ Games/Last\ Epoch/Saves
$STEAMLIBRARY/steamapps/compatdata/899770/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/Eleventh\ Hour\ Games/Last\ Epoch/
Even on minimum settings in the menu, I was getting about 15 fps. In native, I was getting upwards of 40 fps, although after about an hour or so in native, the game started to stutter (perhaps due to the ridiculous memory usage).
Reducing /proc/sys/vm/swappiness
can help with the native version.
protontricks 1061910 -q vcrun2015

See below
Slight stuttering when loading, had a tendancy to desync the gameplay from the music, but a restart of the level fixes it every time.
Using either experimental or GE proton caused the game to crash upon attempting to load a level. 7.0-3 worked like a charm however.
Borked - EAC partially to blame
First run - takes a while to reach 'Press SPACEBAR to skip' which I did because any cutscene that was supposed to be playing wasn't. It then just displayed a black screen with music. I then used PROTON_USE_WINED3D which allowed the game to show the menu but easy anti cheat said I wouldn't be able to play online, so I tried to load a tutorial, of which none loaded. The menu was very laggy too.
