Does not launch at all unless I force proton/the windows version
Does not launch at all unless I force proton/the windows version, which is quite ironic.
With proton the game launches but cannot be played past the prision part since the keyboard won't type anything
Works great out of the box, at 240fps basically all the time on 4k. Great game too, great story and great graphics. Runs on Linux perfectly
The credits scene and in the day switching scene (the lil calendar thingy) lags a bit. Nothing major tho, the game runs fine other than this and it's entirely playable.
The game has a severe dialogue bug in the native version: often when you advance the dialogue the new speech "bubble" will just flash and be replaced by the previous one again, making you lose that dialogue line (when you press the button it'll go to the one after the one that flashed, so you lose the dialogue line that flased), often accompanied by the character drawing turning into a white square.
On Proton Hotfix the game crashes at launch after showing the logos. On Proton 8 it crashes when going back home to switch days (you'll only lose the lil calendar animation). On Proton 9 it works fine tho!!
This game is just so beautiful and I definitely recommend playing it. I'm really glad I could find a Proton version (9.0-4) that got it to work fine, it's just so cute and made me cry so much.
%command% -novideo
You need -novideo in order to be able to login, but afterwards you can remove that and play the game normally (loading is veeeery slow if you keep -novideo)
The cursor shows up now too, so yeah it's playable
SteamDeck=1 %command%
When you open the map, the map description is flickering. Switching tabs to the inventory and back to the map fixes it tho.
The SteamDeck=1 launch arg is needed, otherwise cutscenes won't play and you'll lose lots of the games story.
If you put the SteamDeck=1 launch args everything works and the game is completely playable!
Is native, so no proton needed, and runs perfectly!
Also the best game ever made, my favorite by far. Currently playing it for the 3rd time, but 1st on PC.
If you use mangohud, the game will freeze once you start it. Disable mangohud and it'll work fine.
VR works fine too!
Worth noting tho that image is completely bugged and unplayable if you use WiVRn/opencomposite. You'll need to use SteamVR (and ALVR if you're on an standalone headset).
Fullscreen gets small yeeted to the top left corner of the screen. By small I mean really small, so small you can't even see what is in it.
Using windowed works (tho had to use gamescope to be able to access settings and switch to windowed)
No Steam Cloud sync
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr,dxr11 RADV_PERFTEST=rt PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm,version=n,b" gamemoderun %command% --launcher-skip
Game runs fine with Ray Tracing and on ultra with some tinkering:
When using any version of Steam's official Proton and using Ray Tracing, the game shows nothing but a black screen with music when started (after the first cutscenes if starting a new save). If not using Ray tracing this is not a problem, however it'll freeze first time you open a menu. Proton-Ge versions more recent than 7-55 share the same problem.
Using GE-Proton7-55 fixes these problems! Game runs fine on Dx12 version, with Ray Tracing, NVidia Hairworks and all graphic settings on ultra.
--launcher-skip is required because the launcher is not correctly shown. The other mentioned launch options are there in order to make the game correctly detect the gpu and to work with ray tracing.
Install Visual Studio C++ Runtime via Protontricks
Works great!
Note that depending on your headset you might experience flickering and freezing, but that happens in all games and is not at all related to VR Paradise. If you have the Oculus Quest you'll have to connect via ALVR, which has these problems (tho I'm not sure if this is a Steam VR bug or ALVR bug, since Steam VR isn't exactly great on Linux yet).
