slight fps reduction in game, significantly slower load times, game takes 5-10 minutes to properly launch and the first few minutes of gameplay will be remarkably slower as every new menu requires a few seconds to load
After several hours of playing(3-5), game full on crashes my computer, only happens in this game so it's not a hardware issue
If you aren't running mods, run the native version. Unfortunately, however, many mods aren't compatible with the linux version so if you want mods, run it through proton
With minimal tweaks it works just as good as windows, the only trick is figuring out which ones actually work on your system and which don't
Without PROTON_USE_WINE3D I got major lag spikes during combat (from stable 60fps to single digits), When I used D9VK as others have suggested, the game crashes on launch
I installed quartz as suggested earlier although it didn't seem to do anything. I also have .NET framework 4.6.2 in order to use Vortex Mod Manager with NV
Audio will occasionally crackle, music and radio will sometimes cut out for upward of several minutes when entering or exiting an interior cell, other audio remains unaffected
Alt-Tabing out when using full screen causes it to go black when tabbing back it, recommend using a borderless-windowed mod such as https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/59266
Like earlier, significant lag spikes during combat unless using WINE3D, otherwise it actually runs better than on my windows install on the same machine
Besides loading issues, it runs like native. If anything, it's more stable than windows as I haven't had a single crash
Normal play is fine but on loading new areas of the map for the first hour to two hours of play it will freeze up for anywhere between 30 seconds and 3 minutes. The game isn't amazingly optimized in windows but it's a noticeable downgrade
It appears there is an issue with memory allocation through proton. I can run the game perfectly fine through my windows install on the same PC, but the linux version uses significantly more ram and will occasionally max out all 16gb after a few hours of play, resulting in a freeze which requires me to kill the application
Far superior to the native version in terms of mod support, I was able to play my ~150 mod game fine aside from the aforementioned memory issues
Severe lag whenever anything if being loaded into video memory, long loading times between zones
Long loading times, heavy stuttering whenever loading new graphics
