Extreme mouse stuttering renders this game totally unplayable. It used to clear up after a few seconds of loading a map but now it is persistent. Lowering the polling rate of my mouse to 500 hz does not help.
As long as you can tolerate wiggling the mouse for about 20 seconds after starting a game.
Input is laggy, however it clears up after about 20 seconds of moving the mouse IF you are on Proton 4.2. It never clears up on other versions of Proton.
Nothing happens when starting the game.
Tried several different Proton versions. All behaved the same.
The game is perfectly stable as long as I silence all my notifications before I start playing.
Crashes whenever I get a notification in my DE (KDE Plasma)
The Steam version is flat out borked because of TAGES DRM. However, the GOG version is DRM free and gets a platinum rating. If you own the GOG version add it as a non-Steam game and configure it to use Proton as a compatibility tool. Alternatively, you can replace the contents of the Steam version's folder with that of the GOG version.
Runs perfect if you configure it to use the OpenGL renderer instead of Direct3D. Also note: There are also official Linux binaries available outside Steam that run extremely well.
Performance: This is abysmal. The game runs at a locked 144 FPS on Windows, but here it fluctuates wildly between 20 and 100 FPS. Some maps never get above 45. This is extra problematic because mouse sensitivity is tied to framerate. It runs worse than it did on the Radeon X850 I had when the game came out, granted back then I was playing at 1024x768.
Other issues: This game WILL NOT save your input settings. If you change your key bindings, they will only persist until you next launch the game. It resets your key binds and overwrites the UTInput.ini file every time you launch the game no matter what. I even tried replacing the file with the one from Windows and making it read-only. That prevented the file from being overwritten but it didn't stop the game from loading the default binds and using those instead.
