Can install game, license agreement shows up blank LEAVE IT OPEN while it downloads then restart and accept.
After that it installed Visual C++ dependecies and then closed to to "No resources" for AOgame.exe Note that black screens for extended periods (up to a minute or two) whilst the main menu loads seems to be normal.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Seemed normal to me
Users of older hardware not compatible with Vulkan should have the following line (no quotes) "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" automatically added for them, and at start users should be given the option to choose latest Proton Stable or Expirimental, possibly with an option to remember the choice, until they know what works with their hardware.
Must use Forced Experimental or have selected to play all games using Experimental. Users of older hardware must use PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %c

Must Alt-F4 and then force close when prompted from the main menu (quit doesn't work)
Only tinkering necessary was because of the pecularities of GCN 1.0 hardware (Vulkan compatible but not officially supported with stock drivers - blocklist radeon to force amdgpu driver).
width=1920 height=1080 bpp=32 nointro=true
You'll get a notice about unsupported color depth which you can just ignore / hit ok to. Works fine after.
You can view the intro video with nointro=false fullscreen=false
Works great except the settings issue. Might have to re-launch a few times to get your settings in. And CTRL+V twice for graphics if needed.
In addition to some settings crashing the game (just re-open and it's fine), F4 brings up Linux console. When returning, graphics are glitched. CTRL+V twice (entered Windowed mode / leave Windowed mode) fixes it.
Would be nice if Steam / Proton could disable F4 for Linux OS use and map to game. I'm sure it's possible, like the Windows key in Windows.
