Was not able to get past the "looking for updates" screen.
Tried proton experimental and hotfix

Can install game, license agreement shows up blank LEAVE IT OPEN while it downloads then restart and accept.
After that it installed Visual C++ dependecies and then closed to to "No resources" for AOgame.exe Note that black screens for extended periods (up to a minute or two) whilst the main menu loads seems to be normal.

Launcher didnt start
Dont waste you time
can't start the launcher
black screen
Start bricht ab mit allgemeinen Fehler der AOgame.exe
Proton 7.04.x
The launcher is unable to start the game. It throws a "General Error," pointing toward the AOgame.exe file.
Whether this is an issue with running the executable, an inability to access it, or even see that it exists, or other similar problem, I do not know. Some have suggested it has to do with a different RU anti-cheat layer (the Mail Ru Anti cheat) introduced at a later time, and it would not surprise me if that were the case.

Mail Ru Anti cheat (mrac)
This is the reason why game does not start
Installs launcher > Updates and Patches > Loads Launcher > Attempts Login "General error: "<path to the game launcher>"
That's it. The my.com launcher seems to be incompatible. I'm guessing the reason why this 'used' to work was back when it was still owned by gPotato and the launcher was compatible. Doesn't work at all, won't even load to the menu and cannot be run externally.
Is not launch mygame guard, so error main exe file

Game does not start
My.games launcher was installed without any problems. Game has downloaded. After clicking the play button, a "general error" appears
The game does not start after opening the Launcher. The following message appears: General error: "path to the game launcher"
Use Proton 4.11.x Instead Of 5.0.x
If you would like to login to your own My.Com account, unfortunately, fat chance. You may end all sessions and login but you won't be launching pre-installed Allods.
This is a major bummer for me because I'm an old school player. Thus it's playable but not for me.
Everything seems to be working as far as I can tell. I didn't notice any problems.

Works OTB, no need to delete or do anything!

After installation, the game starts without any problem

Unfortunately, while removing the steam_api.dll file will resolve the "steam needs to be running in order to play" issue, it also means you can't login with steam. So, unless you have a separate account tied to an email address, you will be unable to play.

The Steam API dll needs to be deleted from the game folder, otherwise the game complains about Steam "not running"
