multiplayer dll fix (found below)
Multiplayer desyncs very soon after starting around, even with the dll fix (found below) applied
No launch
Tried renaming arma3_x64.exe to arma3launcher.exe, but the game fails to launch in either case.
arma3-unix-launcher
Good with and without modding. arma3-unix-launcher is a godsend
Webcam did not work
Webcam detected and shown on-screen, but could not calibrate: the 'green box' never showed up despite following all instructions
I ended up playing the game via the honor system, left-clicking whenever I blinked.
Touch input works, but lacks any way to 'preview' placement of your monkeys
No launch
"Unable to create renderer. Please correct settings and try again."
Occasional CTD with lost progress, but overall held up pretty well heavily modded
No launch
Initially the game would not launch at all.
Using the EAC bypass through protonfixes that you can find below/on github (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1240) shows the splash screen for a split second before crashing with the error "Unable to initialize SteamAPI. Please make sure Steam is running and you are logged in to an account entitled to the game."
There's also replacement DLL files floating around that other people have had luck with, but that just replaced my error with one that said the DLLs couldn't be found.
Input bug while controller is plugged in, flawless otherwise
Keyboard/mouse wheel inputs did not work while my controller was plugged in; ran flawlessly after unplugging the controller and restarting the game
Switch off internet before launching and then re-enable after it is launched. Proton experimental (bleeding-edge beta)
DXVX_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
No launch
Stuck on "Launching" forever. Does not happen on Bazzite/Deck-OLED. Removing compat data does not fix. Game will launch and display a message telling me to launch it through the steam client if I try to launch it through proton on the command line.
5.9-GE-8-ST GloriousEggroll
UPlay overlay does not close when you bring it up instead launching more instances every time you press Shift + F2. Notifications are stuck in the top right corner indefinitely. Disabling the UPlay overlay fixed the issue
Unstable connection in GTO, lots of drops. Not different from my experiences playing on PS3/Windows
Would not launch with Proton Experimental. Worked with 7.0-5
Excellent performance
Even with steam input disabled, dualsense adaptive triggers did not work. After a while, the touchpad switched to manipulating the mouse cursor instead of opening the menu.
Unplayable
Game displays 200+ FPS in the corner but the menu is stuttering at less than 1 fps, and none of the buttons can be reliably clicked. Additionally, the game forces itself onto my primary monitor and cannot be moved.
Cutscenes remain black even after trying fixes listed below. Game crashed once during 90 min of play, but otherwise ran smoothly.
Cutscenes play with no video; tried the Wine D3D flag as well as the dev-provided replacement cutscene files to no avail
Game crashed once during 90 min of play, but otherwise ran smoothly.
Flawless
It used to be that the game would crash on the intro cutscene, and you'd have to do quite a bit of finagling with protontricks to get cutscenes to work. The game seems to work flawlessly out-of-the-box now, though.
Voice chat fixed in latest update, runs flawlessly
Lost quite a bit of progress, save in ch 3 -- cloud issue?
Offset display
The game's startup logos are tucked into the top left corner at original resolution. At the menu screen, the display is offset so that only the bottom ~1/5 of it is visible at the top of the screen. Using the keyboard gives auditory feedback and the game seems to be actually running, but it's like being blindfolded.
Changing FullScreen=1 to FullScreen=0 under [Graphics Options] in swkotor.ini doesn't change anything. Modifying the game executable with a widescreen patcher and replacement GUI files (found below) did not change anything.
I also tried to workaround the issue by manipulating the window with devilspie2, but the game was unresponsive to such manipulation.
I have a multi-monitor setup and tried disabling all but one monitor, but the issue persisted.
Strange controller issue
With two controllers, P1 and P3 were simultaneously controlled by the first, P2 and P4 by the second
Crashed with compatdata error while selecting certain characters/map, verifying integrity fixed it
Large, flickering, blocky shadows cast by everything.
Shadows are annoying, but still playable
Launches fine in desktop mode but not in gaming mode.
