Process freezes and never starts
I've tried many different Proton versions without success, error logs are not too useful either
To avoid black screen, I had to use "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%"
Font is a bit strange. Japanese text won't display text at all in most cases. In the menu, when you start after clicking "初から", you have to choose the shortest option (just squares), and then there is something like "⧠⧠⧠ ??? English ⧠⧠⧠". After that, the game will be in English. Then go to the settings, and change font to something that looks ok.
Was able to play the game once, but didn't start again after that
After changing some settings regarding fullscreen, resolution, the game doesn't want to start.
Sorry, this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine
Getting this error message: "Sorry, this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine", then the game closes.
Steam experimental with Esync disabled
Game is stuck with 30 FPS. I set the refresh rate to 165hz, or even 60hz, but it's still stuck at 30 FPS
Ok, so there are some steps you need to do in order to play the game.
- Start the game, let it update
- When it crashes, exit all processes of it running
- Run it again, sign in to ubisoft launcher, remember me.
- Change to proton experimental, and set these launch settings: "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%"
Throughout the 3 years I have owned this game, no issues ever
There is a lot of micro-stuttering that I didn't notice until I tried the game on Windows. You can fix this by enabling these launch options: PROTON_DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% --waitforpreload --nodx9ex -gc 1
I've been playing this game for a long time and finally tested it on the first time on windows today and gotta say the game is running as well on linux as on Windows (about 15% FPS difference).
Overall, this is a Platnium from me
Works pretty much out of the box
Some crackling noises suddenly appearing in the lobby every minute or so. Crackling lasts for 1 second
I tested the game on windows a little while ago, and had a 40 FPS difference. 130 FPS on linux and 170 FPS on windows.
In some areas, the framerate drops down to ~15 FPS. It was not really enjoyable in my opinion
Incredible laggy
The game itself is a bit slow on high settings.
Haven't played the game on windows, don't know if the game is running a bit slow in general, or because it's running through Proton. Low settings makes the experience pretty smooth.
Anti-cheat prevent me from starting the game
Tested Proton-GE, and latest proton version
No problems with online
Using default proton version crashes during loading
Was pretty much no problem at all
Fullscreen was a bit buggy when tabbing out in the beginning. Changing the setting solved the issue
Fullscreen results in black screen
Mouse hover, click often didn't register. It might take 20-40 seconds before I'm able to click
Seems like the game is stuck on one thread or something among those lines
Game freezes completely after starting
Game is completely unplayable. I tried proton (default), an older proton, proton-GE and experimental, all failed with the same issue(s)
Unable to start the game
On default proton (Proton-4.11-11), I wasn't even able to see the launcher. On modified proton (Proton-4.20-GE-1), I was able to display the launcher, but when starting the game, it just hangs on a menu which says: "17:24:03: Starting BattlEye Service...". After that, it never starts
Works pretty good out of the box
Some freezes up to ~2 seconds, happends once every 15 min or something. Issue seems to affect windows users aswell
Disable Esync to prevent random crashes. Put this in launch options: "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%"
Regarding uncencored version.
You can download the patch/DLC https://steamcommunity.com/app/702050/discussions/0/1642045003592161990/
Place the .exe file in the installation folder "~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/The Song of Saya/"
Run protontricks, select "The Song of Saya" and run the patch
Runs pretty smooth in general
Experienced some few crashes throughout the 60 minute playtime I had
Doesn't even start
I tried default proton and proton experimental. I have tried this game before it came to steam, and this issue is most likely because of their anti-cheat.
Ubisoft launcher caused game to crash with default proton. Switching to proton experimental solves this issue. Weirdly enough I didn't need to log in to the ubisoft launcher, I think this is due to having the game already installed outside of steam (with lutris)
Works pretty much out of the box
The launcher is a bit glitchy, but once you click Launch, it's all OK
Fails to start
Fails to start game after launcher. It tells me to disable some firewall settings, antivirus. I only got this error message ONCE and therefore does not 100% recall what it said.
I'm assuming it's because of some anti-cheat software
Webcam are not working
The webcam shows up as an option, but no image appears. Webcam isn't even initialized (cam light is off).
Needs Aero to work
Does not work because it can't find Aero. You'll still be able to download wallpaper VIDEOS from workshop and use an alternative application to use them
Pretty smooth
Unable to use the mouse when fullscreen at launch. Using sway DE, toggle off and on fullscreen with shortcut fixes this issue
Fullscreen does not work. Game and Steam overlay freezes.
Maximize window without setting fullscreen in settings was the solution I went for
There is slight crackling noises here and there. This also happened when I tried the game on windows, but a lot less than on linux
I was not able to start the game at all with normal Proton 5.0-9. But it worked with Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF.
I'm not sure if it's the update that fixed the video stuttering issues, but it's MUCH better than before
Game does not work on current default Proton version. The Custom Proton from GE solved the issues. Game is running very smooth
5.9-GE-5-ST GloriousEggroll
Custom Proton from Glorious Eggroll: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom
When video was laggy/choppy, the audio was also doing the same thing
Everything is choppy and laggy. CPU going crazy
I tested with custom Proton version, disabling ESYNC and PROTON_USE_WINED3D but none of these helped the lag issues :/
Worked out of the box
The multiplayer in this game is a bit questionable. The bugs seem to appear on windows too
