With Proton / non-GE, turning your view 90 degrees let to short a mushy appearance of your aurroundings before it cleared up again. Does not seem to happen with GE
Quitting the game leads to a crash & crash report window
Lovely to be able to join Aloy & friends once more! I tried the default settings with upscaling from 1024x768 with Proton Exeprimemtal, which worked all right (40 FPS). With Proton GE I run it at full resolution at 35-40 FPS & FSR set to "quality". Let's see how this holds up in the more complex areas, but so far so good 🤙
I am happy to continue Cal's journey, it feels like you just continue where you left off in Fallen Order.
Capped FPS to 40 (although apart from the menu the game rarely hit the limit)
At times EA asked me to repeat the login
Barious crashes a xouple of hours in the game. Might be SteamOS preview and not the game though...
The performance on a steam deck does not surprise me. Low settings will give you 15-30 fps depending on the location you play in. FSR settings don't seem to affect the performance too much. Resolution does so a little (1024x768 is the lowest one to choose). It's still great fun.
Maybe since I just finished The Last Of Us Part I which was ranging in a similar fps area. You could use its medium graphic preset there, maybe due to th fact that it offer FSR lower resolutions to work with.
Getting back to work through the senator's yacht now 👋!
FPS limited to 25, GPU set to 1000, TDP limit 10 watts (the game crashed due to overheating (instantly on detailled animations), this helps playing longer until the game crashes (45 minutes+)
Before update 3 no crashes, with update 5 constant crashes. After Trying Proton GE and all variations of the steam os build channels (stable/beta/preview), what fixed it was Steam OS preview, proton experimental, and heat reducing measures described in the battery section. Plus disabling the new fan control in the systems setting.
Overheating
The game is great 🙌- but it' frustrating if it crashes after you beat a boss but before you reach a meditation point to save the game 🧐. Restricting energy consumptions helps prevent crashes in my case, I'm happy that Patch 5 now runs on my steam deck 🙏
Runs well on cutomized low/medium settings & FSR performance mode. Shaders took 30 minutes to build. No crashes 3h in the game...
Fixed framerate to 30 FPS
Fun to play, with visual quality lacking a little. Shaders took 30 minutes to build. I don't regret buying the game.
The game runs on customized "Low" setting with some adjustments to medium and the character details set to high. FSR is set to Performance (640x400 upscaled?) and 30 FPS fixed. It runs at 25-30 FPS. Compared to games like Witcher 3 or even Control it looks a bit low quality and at times textures seem to be missing on some objects ocassionally. But the gameplay is captivating and I'm enjoying the overall experience.
The shaders took 33 minutes to build. I set the framerate to 15 FPS and everything to Low / Ultra Performance. Not sure if that did speed up things, but the fans stopped spinning so it did have some effect on the system load.
