no tweaks. controller worked out of the box (and better than windows, mind you). didn't see the grass issues described.
Finally goes in-game. Poor performance makes the game unplayable.
I'm thrilled that I can go in-game with 5.0-7. I couldn't get achieve more than 50 fps standing still, with significant slowdown when anything was happening. This was consistent across low settings, max settings, playing on the grid vs regular stages, and starting in low spec mode. I had a terrible time timing my combos as a result and generally consider it to be unplayable.
Crashes on start (and also crashes Cinnamon). Worked perfectly on Mint 19.0. Tried proton versions 3.16-4, 3.7-8, and 3.16-6 beta.
I can't figure out how to modify my previous report, but Mint 19.1 doesn't break the game. The game will, however, crash if the resolution described in "~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/32360/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/LucasArts/The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition/Settings.ini" isn't supported by your monitor. That file will be synced via Steam Cloud, so be careful switching between computers. This also happens on Windows, so is probably an issue with the game and not proton.
Switching to GE proton: FPS up from 60-80 to 90-110, stuttering disappeared, and oddly enough my mouse sensitivity went down (?)

Played co-op for a couple hours without issue.
Starts the Steam Connector Launcher, but errors out with INVALID_COUNTRY_CODE and quits.
