default anticheat doesnt work with wine, choosing "launch with easy anticheat" launches without problems
Choose the easy anticheat option on launch, after that everything works as expected
Game works without problems (when using the epic games version) once the workaround is applied.
PROTON_EAC_RUNTIME="/home/j/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime" as environment variable
created a symlink at "DeadByDaylight/DeadByDaylight/Binaries/EGS/EasyAntiCheat" pointing to "DeadByDaylight/EasyAntiCheat"
The steam version doesnt seem to work last time i tried and you just get disconnected once a match starts. When using the epic games version in heroic with the workaround applied it launches and plays without any problems.
If the EasyAntiCheat Runtime in heroic is enabled and it doesnt work, try disabling it.
The workaround is also linked on AreWeAntiCheatYet.
missing japanese particle like letters popping out of hit enemies, when using the native version
mouse was basically unusable because of choppy movement with the native version, using proton fixed that
if you also have mouse issues try forcing proton (properties>compatibility>force the use of specific steam play compatibility tool) with text popups i mean the japanese letter visuals popping out of hit enemies
Using Proton the game worked right out of the box.
The native version had some game breaking bugs however, namely beeing unable to move the camera in full screen when using the mouse and text displayed in the HUD not beeing visible. So just use Proton
couldnt enable full screen after alt tabbing
The game works without major problems, the only one beeing the annoyance of windowed mode after alt tabbing. even installing a mod to remove the crash cutscenes didnt cause any issues
Proton experimental often crashes when entering a cutscene, using Proton 9.0-4 fixed that
By default steam didnt use Proton for this game and just returned an error about a missing launch file. By forcing (any, but in my case simply experimental) Proton version the game was able to launch and be played without any problems.
The game had a few slowdowns every now and then, but thats not different on Windows.
Game works great when playing with bots, sometimes doesnt launch, verify or uninstall
Game works great when playing with bots most of the time. Quick play kicks you after a short amount of time, probably because of the anticheat.
Sometimes the game doesnt launch (and verifying files as well as uninstallation doesnt work) but that can be fixed by opening the taskmanager and killing "microsoft edgeupdate" (search for c: and you should find it).
As others have said you can also rename/delete "MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe" and "WebView2Loader.dll" as well as some folder in "compatdata" to stop edgeupdate from starting in the first place.
I would advise against deleting your whole compatdata folder though. (that would delete all your games local savedata for example)
Instead just delete the folder "steam/steamapps/compatdata/552500/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft".
No other steps were needed for me to stop edgeupdate from running, if that doesnt help maybe try the rest of the steps outlined by others as well.
