DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Character geometry glitches in certain cutscenes.
Loading is very slow, even with shader caching disabled.
So far I have experienced crashes related to DXGI during the campaign. Sometimes the crash took the entire Wayland session with it.
"Blackout", "Aftermath", "One Shot One Kill" all crashed at particular points. The only thing that seemed to help was to run the game using the system Wine executable and try to reach the next checkpoint.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command% --launcher-skip -skipStartscreen
Occasional light crackling when streaming large resources from SSD.
Small, extremely bright spots on distant objects and reflective surfaces viewed at shallow angles. Might be the result of DLSS.
If the controller is connected at any point after launch, UI prompts and bindings will always reflect the controller buttons even after disconnecting it. Some world map controls seem to become unbound. Happens on both bluetooth and cable.
Occasional stuttering when many effects happen at once (e.g. using shotguns).
Occasional crashes when the game window loses focus.
GOG version, installed from standalone 1.6 installer (did not try Galaxy), no issues there. Surprisingly good performance. Better than it was on Windows, other than occasional stutters. Much higher CPU usage, though, even in the menu. Ray tracing doesn't seem to be available even on proprietary driver.
Occasionally the game repeatedly switches between full-screen and windowed and has to be terminated.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=dinput8,ScriptHookRDR2,dxgi=n,b gamemoderun %command% -vulkan -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -cpuLoadRebalancing -ignorepipelinecache
Some pop-in, most noticeable on train tracks and close-up foliage. Occasional flickering on distant backdrops (like mountains).
Occasional stutters when traversing at high speed.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES references some DLLs from mods. I probably only had to override dinput8.dll (since Wine supplies its own unmodded file by default), but adding all modded DLLs probably won't hurt.
I had a non-Steam copy that I couldn't get to work (infinite loading with the yellow revolver cylinder). Suspect that the game was missing the Rockstar launcher.
Launching for the first time wasn't flawless, but it gets much better once shaders are done compiling.
Slight latency when moving the mouse if Compositor is enabled.
Significant stuttering when compiling shaders for the first time even though Steam was able to process all Vulkan shaders. Some stuttering in instanced social areas (relays, open world hubs) when player customizations are loaded.
Despite initial issues with shaders, performance is superior compared to Windows. The only persistent issue is that the launcher doesn't display update progress ("checking for new content").
