The game requires the Microsoft XNA framework, that can be installed using winetricks.
The installer however works only with older version of Proton, to do so launch the game with Proton 4.11-13 after Steam finished creating the prefix stop the game and from terminal launch the following command:
WINEPREFIX=[Path to steam]/steamapps/compatdata/257750/pfx/ winetricks xna40
After installing the XNA framework you can switch back to the latest Proton version

Rarely the game freezes to load assets

Played the whole game's campaign with a friend online.

On i3wm to go fullscreen you have to open the in game menu and change the full screen option.
Required to prevent Iceborne prompt video crash.
Using the following command:PROTON="/home/user/.steam/steamapps/common/Proton 5.13" WINEPREFIX="/home/user/.steam/steamapps/compatdata/582010/pfx" ./mf-install.sh -proton
Using fullscreen with i3 window manager prevented using the mouse cursor on other virtual desktop, this was solved by switching to borderless window.
Game works out of the box, without any performance problems.
Gamepad was correctly detected and worked without any problem using Steam Input.
I don't know if Konami will flag users with Proton as possible cheater in the future considering that using it may break the terms and condition of the game, but from the matches I played I didn't see any problem.
