The Linux port "works", you'll have to try yourself how stable it actually is though. According to other reviews at the time of writing it runs perfectly

Added the following to $GAMEDIR/Bin64/SpaceEngineers.exe.config in order to enable garbage collection:
...Crashes often with no way to fix it in sight
The constant instability really makes this not fun to play on linux Crashes are 100% garantued and you have to hope to god you saved yourself or the autosave did.
Installs, opens and then crashes
Opens the game, popup saying disallowed memory modification detected and then crashes to desktop. Looks like no EAC support for proton enabled ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
After the recent update the anti cheat keeps kicking me for having disallowed software running
gamemoderun %command%
Halfway through matches I now keep getting kicked for having disallowed software running during gameplay, It doesn't say exactly what software it's talking about and the error code is useless for searching online.
Game broken in Update 2.8.0

Embark broke the game, again
No major issues as of writing, just install and play. On updates performance might degrade or bugs suddenly happen, but that is usually fixed after proton updates
Easy Anticheat prevents playing
Game launches, but upon loading into any world Easy Anti Cheat says that it failed to verify the game's files
Works perfectly if everything is setup correctly
Didn't work because of EAC a couple weeks ago. Accidentaly wiped my grub bootloader and just decided to reinstall. Setup everything again and now it works with Proton Experimental. The Proton Easy Anti Cheat Runtime is required to run this game for me
