Looks terrible with default settings but if you use the launch options you can tweak settings and it looks fantastic and runs well.
SteamDeck=0 %command%
Default config has occasional missing textures and in some areas it is unplayable as fog opacity is too strong so you cannot see where you are going. Thankfully easily fixed with correct settings
Without the launch options the menus do not let you change much graphical settings. Once you set them you can tweak the settings and with most on medium it runs at 30-45fps and looks fantastic. It's responsive enough to do all the battle mechanics and roaming and exploring the world is mostly smooth.
Cryoutilities 2.0 default optimisation
Locked to 30fps
There are 3 places that you can set FPS and recommend you set them all the same or you will get stuttering or frame drops. Under display you can change max FPS from unlimited to 30 and then under graphics the target frames should be set to match. Finally under steam battery/performance menu set FPS cap to 30. Plays well at native resolution so turn off FSR. Probably could get more frames if turned down resolution and used far but very playable at 30fps.
I do have cryoutilities with recommended settings - not sure if it makes a difference.
Attempted stock settings and proton experimental both with same results. Menus load fine. Settings automatically set to low and steam deck's native resolution and capped at 30 FPS. Does not recognise controller but can navigate if a keyboard and mouse control scheme selected. After choosing server trying to enter the game causes a black screen then crash out to steam library. Not been able to diagnose issue yet.
HDR looks really good on Steamdeck OLED. Not as good as playing on a desktop with a big screen esp when things get frantic but defintely playable. In menus I did turn on AMD FSR balanced but steamdeck does not detect FSR is enabled so not sure it did anything.
Requires sign in to Ubisoft connect launcher on first load
Had FPS capped at 40fps and it stayed fairly solid with occasional drops to 30fps. Note Ubisoft connect overlay displays warning about graphics drivers that did not go away until I connected a keyboard to pull up the full overlay where I could then close it. It may have been possible to access with the touch pad (I did not test)
