The balls would usually magically teleport on Stock Proton. That issue didnt happen on the custom proton.
The game runs well out of the box, cutscenes just don't work.
Cutscenes do not play for some reason, instead, one of those tv checker like things show.

Works perfectly fine with Proton 7.0rc2-GE-1, no other tweaks needed. Default proton may have issues with cutscenes. Cutscenes actually play, if you use default you may see a TV Colour Test screen which indicates that cutscenes cant play, but you can still play the game.
Persona 4 Golden does not work on Linux. stop getting my hopes up :(

Nothing works and all I see on this db page is people saying it works and a "Gold" rating. Persona 4 Golden Gold rating would be nice, but now its just ironic. Because despite everyone giving out all these fixes, this game does not work.
Don't tell me it does work, because I have tried literally everything under the sun to try and get this game to work. Nothing works and now I am just really sad :(
If you want to buy Persona 4 Golden, use Windows or something. Persona 4 Golden just isn't a game for linux. Or just become one of the many legendary Arch or Manjaro users or whatever who somehow get this game to work on linux.
I don't know why it doesn't work, but I think its a Media Player issue. If someone does find a fix that actually works, make a script or something or just message me on my discord Lachrymogenic#6666 because for me atleast, this game doesnt work and everyone I know is a liar :(
Obviously they're not liars its just that I'm really bummed that literally nothing works. I have windows though, so yay I guess.
Time to go through microsoft update torture.
Some areas seemed strangely dark, and there were a lot of weird white things on the map, I guess its just strange visual glitches
Perhaps my Proton is bugged? Going to try newer versions of proton, like proton 4 instead. It seems Proton 5 does not work for me, strangely.

I'm not sure if this is like a completely universal thing or if this is just a setting change, but I've noticed that Puzzles like Sailing aren't exactly 60 fps, maybe thats just the game though. Apart from that, no performance issues.
I believe my older reports and experiences may be due to broken proton versions or something.

The game will struggle in terms of FPS if you have a controller plugged in. This is because of DINPUT polling more than XINPUT., thus menus will lag and multiplayer will be at a cinematic 24 fps.
For steam deck users and anyone: I recommend you install xinput dlls or disable DINPUT and then manually bind your controller to keyboard keys with Steam Input or the steam controller config.
Spooky's Mansion: HD Renovation does NOT run on Steams Default Proton. It just black screens, you'll have to use Proton GE.

I'd thought I would note down that the game was running a bit slow for me, HOWEVER, with a grain of salt, my dedicated GPU wasn't installed. I had to change the resolution.
Looking at requirements I'm not sure if this game needs a GOOD GPU or a decent one.
Maybe it'll run better when I get my dedicated GPU back in (yes its a laptop, with technical issues, don't question why the dedicated GPU isn't in there)

Annoyingly, videos now skip and refuse to play at all. When a door opens, it will skip to it being open. I have not played the entire game yet, this may cause story issues.
