Had to reinstall the game to work. Did not start on the first install.
The game runs, but the performance is shit. Some animations seem to drop the framerate to about 20-25 fps, when those animations are over you get stable 60 fps again. The framedrops accrue most of the time while fighting. Changing the resolution or graphics quality does not affect the framerate at all. Changing the resolution seems to fix a occurring framedrop, but soon after a new framedrop will kick in. Now pleasurable to play, but I will continue to play that way in coop, cause windows is even a worse user experience. Game overall is very stable, just framerate issues.
This is my third review for this game and I now came to an conclusion why my performance was so bad. The game works perfectly, EXCEPT WHILE USING A STEAM CONTROLLER. As soon as you connect the steam controller the game drops to 20-30 fps. Works perfectly on mouse and keyboard. Did not test Xbox controller.
It used to run very good on gnome manjaro. On xfce manjaro I don't get it to start. installed serveral kernels, open source and nvidia drivers, tried all available proton versions and installed vcrun2017. Will keep trying to install, but as of right now, it won't start.
Forget my previous review, it workes perfectly with no crashes at all. Install the game and run it once. To get it running try to install vcrun2017 on both of these paths:
Run the following commands in the terminal: WINEPREFIX=/home/USERNAME/.local/share/steam/steamapps/compatdata/570940/pfx/ winetricks
WINEPREFIX=/home/USERNAME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/570940/pfx/ winetricks
Then select "Select the default wineprefix" and then "Install a Windows DLL or component". - Select "vcrun2017" and click Ok.
After that your good to go.
The fps are quite good. There are only frame drops, when loading new assets, but it is definitely playable.
Forget my review below, disabeling uplay overlay will not fix the game. I don't know if its Easy Anti Cheat or a DRM, but it will not start.
PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% -width 2650 -height 1440 -nomemrestrict -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100 -availablevidmem 11264 -noprecache -novblank
Edit your launch option to your personal resolution and gpu ram.
Cannot start the game, get Error Code 9 in Social Club. After serveral hours of bugfixing i still cannot get it to run. Worked on KDE manjaro before , does not work on xfce with same settings and computer.
Did not run on manjaro xfce beforehand for some reason. Did a fresh install of the OS and now the game runs as smooth as a baby bum.
Level 13 crashed and did not want to start. Used Proton GE to fix
You have to enable vsync and play on a maximum of 60 hertz/fps, or limit the fps in some other way. If you have >60 fps the menu will bring a nvidia graphics card to freeze and crash.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=dxgi=n,b %command%

only 720p and 1080p
Got the game up and running. Some people have performance issues and other don't. The install is very fiddly, you will have to switch between the custom proton from Github and 5.0-x until it runs.
When using Manjaro you have to set "LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libopenal.so.1 %command% " as the launch option.
Works perfectly. Only bug: you cannot host, one of your friends has to.
