Sometimes the game doesn't launch and you have to relaunch it. Use the command and a GE proton if you don't want to deal with that. Game plays out of box otherwise.
It requires a level of tinkering that the usual person might be uncomfortable with. It's not difficult but it can be weird.
None
You must alter one of the game's script files.
The main menu will not display its options so you have to remember where the cursor is.
All you have to do is go to the Lost Chapter game folder, open up the js, then the plugins folder. You're looking for the Cyclone-Steam.js file. Open that in a text editor, scroll all the way to the bottom. The last two script trees handle the steam interaction that causes the game to not launch. On these last two script blocks replace the return lines with "return null;".
Once you do that go to nwjs.io and download the release. Put it into Lost Chapter's game folder, then open up the console and navigate to the game folder in the console using cd. Once there extract the tar using:
tar xzvf nwjs-v0.97.0-linux-x64.tar.gz --strip-components=1
Then you can run the game using ./nw in the command line while inside Lost Chapter's folder. Note that disabling the steam interface also disables achievements and trading cards, so if you care about those play on windows. Or wait for a better fix.
Game started crashing on launch in windowed mode after a day, then started crashing fullscreen too
Many crashes on launch, have to reinstall whole game to get it to stop
Game fails to create system data on linux desktop. If you have a steam deck start your game on there first and it should work.
If you have a steam deck, you can start the game on there and your cloud save will work on desktop. If not wait for a fix.

gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 -- %command%
Cannot log in when game is fullscreen
I'll say it here so no one else has the trouble that I did. Gamescope is only included on the steam deck for steamOS. You have to install it using a ppa on any other distro. Everyone on here just seems to assume that's a given but it really isn't. Once you have Gamescope installed you can use the above command to log in, and then afterwards play the game in fullscreen should you choose to do so.
Also make sure to disable steam overlay or the loading screens will hang.
Game works fine with default proton, but as of GE 9-11 it seems the windows media encoder issue has been fixed and the animated scenes play with no issue. This is also the case with the opening movies of Yuzusoft VNs and others. The movies in Fate Stay Night, whether a non steam game or the steam version, should work as well under 9-11.
