This game performs a lot slower than it would on Windows and you can't even play the DLCs.
The game randomly stutters and the performance is poor, despite the game running perfectly fine with the same GPU and on Windows.
With Proton 4.11-13, DLCs did not get recognized at all. Despite owning Nyakuza Metro and Seal the Deal, the game did not allow me to play those DLCs' content.
I tried to run the game with Proton Experimental, GE-Proton, Proton 7.0-1 and Proton 6.3-8. Nearly all the time they gave me a weird black screen and crashed or froze. Rarely, the game booted up (without me changing anything about the configuration), but had similar performance issues to the working Proton 4.11-13.
Can't play with all the flickering
The game flickers rapidly and constantly upon launch to an unbearable degree. Even the Steam Overlay flickers. If you fullscreen it at that point, the flickering continues, except your last frame will get frozen as well, taking away your ability to see anything afterwards. I attempted to disconnect my 2nd monitor following another report, but the game continued flickering even while using just 1 monitor. If you attempt to quit the game through the settings menu off the main menu, the game goes black and gets stuck. If you attempt to press X on the window, it will ask you to confirm to quit. Clicking "Yes" does nothing, but closing the prompt is what causes the game to quit. These issues all persist throughout:
- Proton Experimental
- Proton 9.0-4
- Proton 8.0-5
- Proton 7.0-6 (I also got a crash prompt and some weird Wine pop-up while using this)
- GE-Proton 9-20
Using Andrade's script - the game opens up, but reports "Missing Game Files" and closes.
Used Andrade's script.
I think this might come from the newest content update they pushed. My actions to reproduce:
- Downloaded and Installed game from Steam.
- Attempted to launch it. Expectedly got an EAC Splash of it eternally loading.
- Ran Andrade's script.
- Switched to Proton Experimental
- Attempted to launch it again. This time I got an Epic Games Services Installer to install something, then eventually the game opened into fullscreen and instantly gave a "Missing Game Files" pop up which only allows you to terminate the game.
- Switched to bleeding-edge Proton Experimental. Attempted to launch it again, but got "Missing Game Files" again.
- Tried to Verify Game files. It replaced 1 file, but the game ran like in Step 2.
- Attempted to run the script again, but the game ran like in Step 5.
- I reinstalled the game, retried a few times and tried following these steps, but it just never worked for me.
Played over 200 hours on Linux - experienced no issues
I have yet to experience any serious issues with the game. Everything works well
