I personally prefer docked with MKB, but there's nothing wrong with how it controls with the Deck's native inputs. Graphics settings are good for the built-in display, I turned shadows down to hit 144fps externally.
Stutters with some actions in higher enemy-dense missions
3 crashes during my 12hrs on Deck
I crank everything to the absolute lowest settings (other than textures). There seems to be some things that barely effect performance, but when running at the lowest FSR preset with an output of 800p there is really no combination of settings to make this pretty. Just aim for the ~45fps (dips to 20fps) or play an different hardware.
Lock the framerate to 30fps in the game settings. About the same experience frametime-wise as on an Xbox One.
Text is a bit small for the screen size, but still legible.
Crash only occured when forcing render resolution lower than the game officially supports, however that tweak assists with keeping frametimes in a more acceptable range.
Stuttering when swapping between armor cores in the customization screen.
Stutter is an issue without forcing the render resolution lower, but that in turn causes occasional crashing in the season 3 update.
Playable, suggest locking to 30fps or lowering render resolution in the game files for 60fps but risking crashing.
On first launch you have to use the touchscreen twice to approve a UE/DirectX install.
The controller setup was way better than I expected. I only tested this to submit on here but now I'm going to start playing it away from my MKB setup.
maytheperformancebewithyou and other similar but manual made UE4 file tweaks
Sometimes required manually switching out of EA Launcher window after launch
The menu text does not resize to fit the 800p resolution
Missing textures were hard to spot and always at a distance
Mouse on menus does not work consistently
It's not the low frames, but the inconsistency of frames. This is not unique to running on linux.
Only two gameplay crashes, the rest were from me turning textures up too high (stay bellow High)
Need to select the correct resolution in the menu and force the game to close before it resets it inorder to maintain the setting.
The inconsistent frametimes in this game make 80fps feel like 25, and on the Deck I was only hit 25fps-35fps. IMO it feels like a 15fps experience, and in an action game with parries that just unplayable. Cutscenes drop bellow 10fps (once they stop running at 1fps as they always do when they start). I don't think the "typical gamer" would enjoy it on my Windows PC either, its only barely jankier here.
If you're already use to really low settings its honestly fine. Definitely suggest better hardware but you can actually experience the game.
gamemoderun %command%
Will not launch w/o the launh options
Some text in the meditation menu is cut off in 16:10
The low fog setting looks worse on the Deck, and opening menus sometimes cull a lot of the scenery.
Most stuff is a stuttery (but locked) 30ps
Highly suggest the "Ultra+ Unofficial Hotfixes" mod, the stuttering is much better in bad areas.
