ProtonGE is required to view prerendered cutscenes. Otherwise they'll just skip over. Controls will not work unless you use the offically provided control layout.
As long as you install Hedgemod Manger for Direct3D 9 Ex, you should run the game at 40hz at 9 Watts, 900 GPU frequency just fine.

Game uses a launcher, will need to use touch screen to navigate
Game does not run at 60fps where this hardware should have no problem doing it whatsoever. Reccomended to cap to 40hz to get a good experience.
Out of the box with no tinkering, stable 30fps or 60fps with constant drops is not enjoyable. Change the refresh rate to 40hz to get a fairly smooth experience with frame drops in very few locations.
With fixes, Sonic Generations on Steam Deck is an enjoyable experience with good preformance, but out of the box it is a dissapointment.

Touch screen is needed to set up game/launcher
Out of the box, Sonic Generations has significant preformance issues. These can be fixed by installing HedgeModManager via either Bottles or Q4Wine, installing Better FxPipeline and Direct3D 9 Ex. Setting Direct3D 9 Ex to use "Windowed mode" will help preformance and screen stretching. Proton GE 7-24 also helps preformance.
Sonic Generations on default settings runs extremely poorly. With the new Direct3D 11 installed via HedgeModManager, the game runs flawless.

External controllers can have some troubles connecting properly, getting the "Controller Hotplugging Support" code in HedgeModManager fixes this.
Game is extremely slow on Proton due to using Direct3D 9
Running this script should get HedgeModManager working properly (link below), allowing you to install Direct3D 11 and getting the game to run basically flawlessly. Otherwise, Generations on the Steam Deck is an extremely painful experience.
