Not sure why I have to roll back Proton versions when newer seems to be working for others.
Heavy artifacting. Had to switch to older Proton version but all artifacting ceased once switched.
Launches to black screen with sound. Tried every version of Proton listed on SteamPlay, no dice.

After finding various "solutions" on multiple forums, the one that has worked the best for me is this one. I've put about 4.5hrs into the game with 0 issues and about an hour+ with the other non-working "solutions". These other "solutions" had me stuck on loading screens, freezing between scene transitions, crashing, and completely messing up my mouse input when I'd alt+tab out needing to force shutdown due to the freezing.
For other non-linux savvy people like myself, here is the process in full:
- Get GE-Proton8-9 from GitHub and "install/extract" the files to Steam directories (instructions on how to do this are easy to find).
- Restart Steam.
- Change Steam's compatibilty menu to this version of Proton.
- Next you'll need to install ProtonTricks via your package manager if you don't have it already.
- Open a terminal and run this command:
protontricks 1434950 d3dcompiler_47 d3dx11_43
(1434950 is the GameID but that's about all I know, so we're telling protontricks to do some blackmagic to get the game working? LOL)
I'll replicate this process tomorrow on my Steam Deck and hopefully it all goes just as swimmingly!
Borked AF.
I've tried every version of Proton available through Steam, I've also tried launching with Lutris and LSI Steam. No dice. Game attempts to start and instantly crashes.
Borked AF
I've tried every version of Proton available through Steam, I've also tried launching with Lutris LSI Steam. No dice. Always launches to desktop mode. Game cannot recognize that SteamVR is active and working.
Very low FPS
Game attempts to load, nearly instantly a Unity crash screen pops up.
Cool game, huge bummer.
