Runs at 20-30 fps on a 1080Ti at 3440x1440 for reference. Based on initial reviews, this doesn't seem to be a Linux issue, just appears to be due to the visuals being much more demanding than the first game.
Was able to load in and begin playing first chapter without issue, will update if I hit any issues. Only problem I've seen so far is that the mouse in settings/main menu can be a bit floaty by default.

Has some optimization issues particularly in large open-world areas. Does not fully utilize GPU in these areas. Not game-breaking.
As of 1.02.1 patch, game launches in EAC mode as long as you run Proton Experimental (bleeding-edge) as suggested by other reports.
I was able to successfully launch the game with EAC enabled, and get through the initial log in to the Elden Ring server at the main menu, which I had not been able to before.
Make sure to use Proton Experimental (bleeding-edge)
- Search Library for
Proton Experimental
- Right-click,
Properties->Betas->bleeding-edge
- Search Library for
ELDEN RING
- Right-click,
Properties->Compatibility->Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool
, then selectProton Experimental
The game should now launch with EAC enabled, and you should be prompted with the Online Services notice when entering the main menu.
Works on GE-Proton7-3.
I did have to rename the EasyAntiCheat folder in the game directory to get the game to launch properly, though GE-Proton typically does this for you. (likely just my system being weird).
Was able to play all of the tutorial at a smooth 60 fps. The initial game load does take awhile, likely due to shader compliation.
This does disable EAC, so online multiplayer is not likely to work, however I was able to sign into my Xbox account without issue when starting the game.
6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Seems to support FidelityFX Super Resolution out of the box. Was able to test and play reliably on performance and balanced settings. Game includes an "Original" setting for many of the graphical options which appears to line up with the PS4 quality-wise. Was able to run the game at a consistent 45-55 FPS with graphical settings on High at 21:9 1440p
Works great on latest Proton GE 6.8 build. Ultrawide works following the same ReShade fix for Windows
Installed d3d_compiler_47. Installed ReShade to enable aspect ratio fix for proper Ultrawide support
Occasional framerate dips after game is left paused for a short time. Alt-Tabbing seems to resolve the issue.
Proton-6.5-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Occasional performance issues where framerate dips to mid-20s. Alt-Tabbing a few times generally resolves the issue.
At least on Proton 6.5, looks to have issues with the codec used for certain cutscenes. Startscreen video crashes the game, as well as the cutscene after the last fight of Act I.
Launch options: LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/openssl-1.0
Tested with fsync enabled.
