Add the game as a non-steam game.
How to get it running:
- Install Ubisoft Connect (just link to the installer.exe)
- Install Anno 1800 from Ubisoft Connect
- Play the game
Proton version 5.13 results in very long load times, but using GE 5.21 solves this lower version of wine/proton dont seem to work anymore since Anno 1800 version 9.x
I dont have any issues Online works, Cloud saves work.
There are some stutters, but you can fix it by leaving the game on in the menu for 10min orso. The Dev is aware of this issue.
Used: DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_2 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr %command
There is a stuttering issue this can be fixed with this: Leave the game running in the menu for 5 to 10 minutes to let it compile all the shaders, after this reboot the game
After the shader compile the stutter was gone and game ran great after that.
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Works out of the box. Using the launch options only to add DLSS support wich improves framerate on RTX capable cards.
Cant tell if performance is lower, but works out of the box with 90 fps on high settings
Wont start
You get a message: Wine, Proton and Steam Deck are not supported.

VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Supports DLSS works great without problems
PYROVEIL=1 PYROVEIL_CONFIG='~/pyroveil/hacks/roadcraft-nvidia-570-stable/pyroveil.json' %command%
AMD users should not have a problem Nvidia users need to ticker abit
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
The game needs PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 set in the launch options to install works great afterwards even supports DLSS.
Starting a second race will crash the game
Starting a second stage will crash the game to desktop but works beyond that.
