40Hz, no need for more fps in this game
Cutscenes don't work on Proton 7.0-4, but they work perfectly on Experimental or GE 7-37. No need for winetricks, no upside-down problems.
First thing that pops up is launcher. You need to click play and it will launch the game, with an occasional crash - just reboot and try again.
You can customize graphics settings there, BUT most settings will not show up until you launch the game for the first time.
Switched to Proton for controller detection and newest version compatibility in case I wanted to play with friends online.
It sometimes crashes when trying to boot from launcher window, but after it gets running I have yet to encounter any stability issues.
40Hz
Only change I made is in settings, under "Accessibility" there is an option for Large UI - taking it makes everything look great on Deck.
I did not have any cutscene problems other people encountered - they worked from the get-go.
Run different .exe from game files and modified UE configuration files, full explanation below
30fps, TDP limit 10, Clock frequency 1000, 1152x720 w/ FSR on 0, medium settings
Non-english dialogue languages need modyfing configuration files to work (explanation below)
stutters during loadings (Unreal Engine problem)
No Origin, true full offline.
Most problems people have with this game are with Origin. Fortunately, a year ago developers removed Denuvo DRM and the game can be played through alternative .exe file without launching Origin at all!
Warning: this way steam achievements will be disabled
Switch to desktop mode and add SwGame-Win64-Shipping.exe as a non-steam game - file should be located in ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/[game id]/pfx/drive_c , then you need to find the game folder and the .exe should be located in SwGame/binaries/Win64 . Default steam ID for JFO is 1172380, but it might be different if the game was installed through origin.
This .exe can run without Origin, but it will try to launch it if one is detected - if you already installed it you need to either uninstall Origin from abovementioned folder path or just move origin.exe file to a different folder.
Now, if you want to play with english voiceover, that's it. The game should launch with no problems without opening Origin.
- However, if you want to use any dialogue language other than English, you need to follow fix listed in this link. It involves creating a modified UE configurating file and dropping it into the game folder.
After all of that, the game should run normally without Origin. Unfortunately, due to being added as a non-steam game, steam achievements will be disabled.
Old character saves seem corrupted, but thats more likely due to Terraria updates.
Terraria works like a charm ootb and it's an amazing experience on the Deck.
I bound R key to right pad.
Some slowdowns from time to time, mostly on very busy rooms with more projectiles/enemies.
Works just fine after you hit play. I've experienced some minor slowdowns during few fights, but it's nothing gamebreaking. All my saves and mods imported and worked like a charm.
40Hz, 5W TDP - works fine for now
A lot of (readable) small text
Some cutscenes don't work on Native or Experimental, but GE works great without any ther chanes needed.
