I've had 5 totally random freezes in ~18hours. Simply restarting the game is enough.
It worked as good with the latest Proton-GE as with Proton-experimental.
Launch the game -> stuck on FFXIV splash screen Close the game then :
cd .local/share/steam/steamapps/compatdata/39210/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/
vim FFXIV_boot.cfg -> Switch value of BrowserType to 1
Launch the game again
Connect to your account (press enter and don't click on log in otherwise it will crash)
Try to launch the game (for me I could select servers, but then got stuck on a black screen)
Back to the terminal (same location)
vim FFXIV.cfg
Change the value of CutsceneMovieOpening from 0 to 1
Launch the game again. It should work with no issue now.
If you set frame rate limit (for me 144), the input will be EXTREMELY laggy and totally unusable. It took me a while to figure out that was the cause of the issue. I simply removed the limit and it runs perfectly.
In ~25 hours, I have had 1 crash due to DX11. No other issue.
Tip : If you bought the game on steam, create your FF account in a browser and link your steam key to it. The launcher is pretty bad, and even though I didn't have any issue, I know most people do.
The game runs fine, but I was never able to join my friends. Only play 'solo' even though I did see other players at large.
Slight fps drop compared to playing it directly on windows.
Works perfectly, except for one issue : The cinematic that lasts for ~30 seconds on the TV doesn't play and only shows a black screen.
The 'cinematic' supposed to play on the TV only shows a black screen
Game works perfectly, although the game itself is not really optimized even on windows.
Only played for ~30 minutes, no issue so far. Tried both DX11 and DX12, no crash. Will update report if I notice any issue.
(I do have slight fps drops, but my friend playing on windows experiences the same when using ULTRA settings.)
