If you're running Proton 6.3-5 or above, you're not going to have any issues and it runs like native.
BUT If you're going for anything lower than Proton 6.3-5, you might have to type 'PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%' in the launch options.
Weird crackling sound when using sword dome when the sword is flying back to the dome. Haven't tried if this issue is still there on proton
Had to switch from fullscreen to windowed to fullscreen to actually get the game to be in fullscreen. Instead of doing this each time, it works ootb to run it through proton
No issues at all. It plays like native.
Your mileage may vary if you're using something other than pulseaudio, but worth a shot as it's a great game
DX11 error on launch
Receiving error message "DX11 feature level 10.0 is required to run the engine." on launch of the game, both with and without EAC. Tried Proton Experimental, 6.3-6, with same error and later versions didn't launch at all
Fix for DX11 error is easy
I fixed the DX11 issue I had by fresh installing. It has something to do with using an NTFS drive or copying game files from an NTFS drive over to ext4/btrfs/etc.. If you don't do that then you shouldn't have that issue and it'll work fine
A D3D11-compatible GPU (Feature Level 11.0, Shader Model 5.0) is required to run the engine.
Used to work fine but I hadn't played it in a few months. Fired it up today and I'm unable to get past an error message reading "A D3D11-compatible GPU (Feature Level 11.0, Shader Model 5.0) is required to run the engine."
I've tried Proton Experimental, GE-Proton7-50, and Protons 7.0-6, 6.3-8, 5.0-10, all failing some with and some without the error message. Using the launch option to try and bypass D3D11 fails also. System is up to date, I reinstalled the game, and yes I have turned it off and on again thank you Roy.
Fix for "A D3D11-compatible GPU (Feature Level 11.0, Shader Model 5.0) is required to run the engine." error code is to uninstall lib32-amdvlk. For some reason more than one type of driver was installed. Played perfectly after that.
EAC error
Disconnected from server before joining the game. "Reason: Anti-Cheat Integrity check failed (0x2200). You have been disconnected."
The game uses Cortana to do voice recognition, which is for talking to the ghost to provoke it and for asking questions of the spirit box and ouija board.
You won't be able to interact with the ouija board or taunt the ghost, but you can use spirit box by waiting ten seconds for it to go off (something they implemented for people with no mics).
When moving the mouse around you can see delay before your torchlight catches up. This delay isn't as long on Windows with same hardware
Game performs significantly worse than Windows 10/11. Has a lot of trouble with lighting and you'll experience further problems if you play in a group (multiple torches shining through hallways causes considerable slowdown).
Stuttering and slowdown during cinematics that continues into gameplay. Sometimes it goes away sometimes you have to restart the game
Crashes consistently when approaching a poster in Tyrak Square
At this stage it's better to wait until this game is optimised. I was able to get past the lag by changing proton versions, setting graphics to medium and textures to low, but I can't get past random crashes during gameplay.
Small lag spikes sometimes, but overall playable
Lag spikes when loading some NPCs in, which doesn't happen playing on Windows with the same hardware. Also experienced some rubber banding during these spikes
