No issues since last patch
Had a few crash & freeze at first. Everything runs flawlessly since last patch!
Tricked steam into launching the game without launcher to bypass anti-cheat (rename eldenring.exe
to start_protected_game.exe
)
The game launch without issue but detects the missing anti-cheat and only allows you to play offline.
Stutter ~0.1 sec every ~30sec or so. Just enough to be noticeable, but not enough to be unplayable.
I asked for a refund before I was able to bypass the anti-cheat. But even if I can make the game work offline, ill vote with my money and only buy it again if they patch the anti-cheat.
Play online without any tinkering as of patch 1.02.1
Small stuttering, still playable
Proton Experimental (not bleeding edge)
As of Mars 28, fps drops under 10 as soon as I go outside or encounter an enemy (aka most of the game)
Enemies are often invisible
Controller is not detected when EAC is active.
Slow <10FPS
The game is a roller coaster of bug & fixes, wait at least a few weeks before you buy
Great game, works like a charm without thinkering!
The shipyard is always empty when loading a game. This is probably not a linux issue but simply how the game is made...
Sometimes menus becomes unresponsive and softlock the game. The game isn't frozen as I can use the mouse just fine & sound works but I can't interact with the UI nor leave the menu screen. It happened in the start menu after hitting "save & quit", in the tool upgrade screen when Weaver stopped talking and in the shop during a regular shift.
It only happened 3 time over 40h of play so id say its a minor inconvenience.
It might me a regular bug & not linux/proton related
Audio will start to crackle & lag (?) with stutter after 5-6h of continuous gameplay. Framerate also slightly drops at that time but is playable (low 20) which allow you to finish your shift and restart the game.
Shaky textures & text
Gameplay is locked at ~15 fps regardless of graphical settings or resolution. GPU & CPU are underutilised and frames takes only ~80ms (if mangohud is to be trusted) which is about 120fps so how is it only running at 15fps?
Works great out of the box
Was able to play with friends through steam. Lobby & invites work. No lag or other issues to report
It just works
Played for 3h yesterday, game didn't crash I was able to skip the cutscene before the game menu.
I didn't skip any ingame cutscene yet, but as a first time player, I would recommend anyone to watche them as they are crucial to understanding how to progress in the story.
