Runs quite fine aside from 1 ignorable hiccup
Intro videos do not play correctly.
A recent update to Proton Experimental fixed the intro cutscenes. Use that if you really care.
Runs very smooth. Just don't go below Proton version 5, or the game will not launch.
Unusually, the cursor appears to have glitched out to appear like it has blood on it... Shrunken texture or something?
Fullscreen starts up with your non-default screen. Going in and out of fullscreen makes it snap to the default screen again.
Hiccups along the way, but it works fine.
Windowed border ignores any space taken up by the OS, causing fullscreen to go much larger, which may block the screen. Resizing the window solves.
If steam crashes in the background and you are using steam cloud, your save file becomes corrupt. Make backups frequently.
(Demo) Completely playable through matches.
Transitioning movies from night/day are displayed as the tv colour test screen.
Downgrade to 5.13-6 to enjoy flawlessly. Current build (6.3-8) has issues with screen rendering.
Completely borked, not even Protontricks could help unfortunately.
Doing some research, it seems that the cause is a recent update to Winetricks which breaks optimizations on the 64 bit level. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38653
It works flawlessly... Assuming you don't pause the game. I wouldn't recommend.
Pausing the game or minimizing the window completely breaks all inputs, forcing a restart.
Nevermind, recent patches to Proton have fixed the pausing issues,
I have 0 clue if this is intentional, but certain cutscenes stutter, like when you first unlock the Batwing. This isn't like how slow motion is used either.
Put "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%" into command line to solve.
Fullscreen for some reason locks to the non-default monitor, changing screen size repeatedly reset it back to the default monitor.
PLAY THIS GAME WITH V-SYNC ENABLED, MANY BUGS LIKE AN UPLAYABLE CHAPTER 2 EPISODE 1 APPEAR WITH IT OFF.
The game runs as good as the original. But the original game comes with insane glitches anyways so is it even worth it?
Locks to 1270 until mantually changed, but saves after that.
Input cannot handle more than 3-4 key presses at once.
Surprisingly the only LEGO game where I haven't been affected by the W + A + Jump issue, all the keybinds work for me. Pretty solid.
Audio loops the first second. Put "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%" in the command line to solve.
Fullscreen improperly set to the non-default window, adjust and reverse the aspect ratio to fix.
Ensure Vsync is enabled. This isn't a proton-specific issue but many physics like stairs and walking speed completely break with it off.
Borked, with not even Protontricks to save me.
Doing some research online, it seems they broke some optimization in recent versions of Winetricks, which is potentially the cause? https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38653
Game requires an install of flash but never prepares one in Proton's boundaries, thus borking it.
Follow the other report below to create a Symlink which installs flash properly.
Fullscreen ignores the taskbar.

Works great, minor hiccups which can usually be solved.
Strange interactions with a second screen... Dragging the window to the second screen in windowed mode caused the visuals to permanently freeze until dragged back.
Seed selection has a permanent lag spike. You can remove it by replacing your executable with the non-drm version located in steamapps/compatdata/3590/pfx/drive_c/ProgramData/PopCap Games/PlantsVsZombies/popcapgame1.exe
Two tweaks to do, then it runs flawlessly,
Seed selection screen has a noticable frame drop, due to the game's DRM. to solve, go to steamapps/compatdata/3590/pfx/drive_c/ProgramData/PopCap Games/PlantsVsZombies
and replace the executable in the main install folder with it.
3D Acceleration causes consistent but low frame drop. Simply turn it off on the options menu.
This game has aged like fine milk. Still runs well enough though.
Windowed mode locks to the display specified after Alt-Tabbing.
