Needs the "corefonts" package installed. This can be done by installing winetricks and protontricks, then execute
"protontricks 814540 corefonts"
in a terminal after you've launched the game once to find out that the fonts are missing. You'll need some patience for it to download and install, but it shouldn't take longer than 2 minutes to complete. Take this uwu while you're at it.
It runs just as good as on a Windows or macOS machine, but a lot better than the WiiU edition of the game. You won't have to worry about the initial configuration dialogue, just press the OK button and endorse being able to set it the game up via the game itself.
Adding the widescreen fix allows the game to run perfectly. I couldn't test the controller support though.
The game sorta works out-of-the-box, but without tweaks, the game isn't really pleasant to play. I recommend the Widescreen tweak by ThirteenAG ( https://github.com/ThirteenAG/WidescreenFixesPack/releases/tag/scda ), which allows the game to run in FullHD, in addition to, well, widescreen.
The game works flawlessly after applying the Widescreen Fix by ThirteenAG ( https://github.com/ThirteenAG/WidescreenFixesPack/releases/tag/sc ) and d3d8to9 by crosire ( https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9/releases ). Cutscenes, though, seem not to work, only playing audio and nothing else but a black screen. Removing "Logos.bik" and "videointro.bik" allows the game to instantly jump into the main menu, allowing to launch the game without having to wait 15 seconds beforehand.
It works fine, with some weird hitches when loading a level, but anywhere else, it worked rather flawlessly. I couldn't verify the multiplayer at the time, but it didn't connect to other players on Windows anyway. The Uplay overlay is downright broken, refusing to appear after pressing the button combination. DirectX 9 won't work due to Uplay not starting when using either DXVK or Wine's OpenGL implementation of DirectX 9. While Uplay will work on both implementations of DirectX 11, the game refuses to load on DXVK, but runs fine using OpenGL. MSAA cannot be used, it introduces graphical glitches on objects that are further away from the camera. It's recommended to use V-Sync if performance gets too slow. FXAA can be considered, but isn't necessary.
