PROTON_EAC_RUNTIME="/home/$USER/Documents/Games/steam/steamapps/common/Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime/" %command%
I used this tutorial. Some extra notes:
- The flatpak command was not needed since I already had the Heroic Games Launcher.
- I had to use Proton-GE-7-24 or Proton-GE-experimental (decided to ultimately use 7-24). With other versions either the game would not run, or the game would run, but the EOS overlay would be invisible, i.e., the overlay would show up, which you could verify by the mouse pointer changing, but it was completely transparent.
I used the graphics settings shown in fix 7 of this guide; I did not use any other fixes in the guide. The reason I turned down my graphics settings was to boost performance during gameplay. This is likely due to the hardware I have.
Although there are quite a few steps to getting this game to work, the steps in the guides were clear and helpful. I think most Linux users should be able to understand and follow them. The only frustrating part was swapping through proton versions to find one that works, but if you're reading this, try starting with Proton-GE-7-24 to hopefully alleviate that frustration. Enjoy!
Absolute masterpiece.
Works amazing right out of the box; no tinkering needed.
Worked as designed.
When first atarting, it will not leave start screen until you have allowed epic games access. Granting access can easily be done through the browser pop-up that should open the first time you start the game.
Due to the hardware I had, I had to turn down the resoultion and graphics settings to get things to run smoothly. However, this is only a result of my older hardware, and not of the game itself.
%command% -windowed -no-border
Had to start windowed and then swtich to fullscreen. If starting in full screen, received an UE4 error.

Needed to tinker with launch options using "%command% -windowed -no-border", but then everything ran smoohtly.
%command% -windowed -no-border
Had to start the game windowed; otherwise, I received a UE4 crash.
