Changed Engine.ini to disable lumen
The first time I launched it, it prompted me to install a Visual C++ Redistributable which I did. After relaunching again it has worked without any issues.
The only extra tinkering I can suggest is disabling Lumen to get some extra FPS via the instructions in the Link below.

The directory where you should create Engine.ini is below:
/home/your_user_name/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1903340/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Sandfall/Saved/Config/Windows/
DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_FRAME_RATE=165 gamemoderun %command% -high -USEALLAVAILABLECORES
Unlike most people I was unable to get this game to launch on Proton Experimental and had to use 9.0-2 to get it to work. I did a lot of tinkering with the launch options and have pasted them but I could only get it to launch with the launch options below & using the latest stable Proton instead of experimental. You can replace your refresh rate in the launch command as my monitor is 165.
When you start up there's a green bar at the bottom but after you actually get in game I have no issues.
Per any Bethesda game, expect occasional crashing which also apparently happens on Windows
Works perfectly out of the box with proton-cachyos but be warned that frame gen cannot be enabled in the menu. As someone mentioned below, every single time you launch the game you have to open console and enable Nvidia reflex and frame gen. See below:
To enable frame gen: Altar.DLSS.FG.Enabled 1 To enable reflex: Altar.Reflex.Mode 3
mangohud %command% --launcher-skip
The game runs fine except for some very rare crashes after I switched to GE-Proton8-17. If you try running the game in DX12 using any of the more recent Proton versions it causes the game to freeze every time you open the main menu after loading the game.
I've only run into 1-2 game closing crashes in over 8 hours of gameplay so it's mostly stable. Something else to note is that closing the game can be a bit buggy as it either generates a crash report upon close or steam closes the game but still shows it as running in the UI where you have to stop it manually.
