I had to set all graphic settings to low, to get a decent stable framerate.
Set graphic settings to low, and you're good to go.

Runs almost flawlessly out of the box
Overall performance was good, but tanked in a few areas at the end of chapter four.
Game has a known bug where the character can't move after loading a savegame. Disable the head bob animation to fix it.

Unreal 4 can be a problematic engine, and proves to be again in Paradise Lost. Frame-rate was all over the place (High preset at 3440x1440), but this is a common complaint when the game is played on Windows as well, so am satisfied that there were no unusual hiccups.
Deck users will need to lower settings to get steady frame-rates.
I have set nearly every graphic setting to low except the textures and shadow. Kept Scaling set to 1.0
Only a few times.
At some places, where a lot of textures need to load, it gets the fps down bz about 10 for me.
After you set the Graphic Settings down to low, the game will run pretty smooth on the Steam Deck. Maybe someone else can make some tinkering with it, so it runs even smoother. But for my part, i don`t have much knowledge of tinkering with linux or proton.
Finished game with some issues
Mixed performance. 80+ FPS in some areas, 30 in others. Performance dropped to a stable 7FPS in the next to last chapter. Had to restart the game to fix it.
If you get stuck after reloading a checkpoint, disable head bobbing
It's working but graphics should be asjusted to enojoy it.Still expect some rare stuttering.
I played at 1080p at high settings. It felt a little bit slow, but playable.
Very low fps, stable however.
Nice game with poor performance and a problematic save system
Missing cut-scene at beginning and at the end of the game.
Game is separated into Levels which contain multiple checkpoints at certain points in space. Checkpoints are activated by passing trough them. Loading these checkpoints worked, but i could not move around, just look around. Fixed by reverting progress to beginning of chapter in the ''Esc'-menu. Lost like 1h of progress this way.
Some levels had poor performance (about 45fps). I don't know how it would run on Windows.
Please exit the game only after you have reached the FIRST CHECKPOINT within the next LEVEL (new level is indicated by loading screen, checkpoint is indicated by symbol in right corner of screen), otherwise you will loose your progress.
I think that a typical gamer would not enjoy the game due to the occasional hick-ups, especially the ones related to frame rate drops.
As others already said, the framerate drops in new areas (seems to be a problem with asset streaming). One chapter was unplayable (<10 FPS) for me, requiring me to drop the resolution.
The game crashed some times during the transition of chapters. It is easily fixed by restarting the game, the auto-save spots are perfectly placed right before each chapter so you won't loose any progress.

An enjoyable experience overall
Occasional frame drops for a short period at the beginning of new areas.
Crash on first start. All following sessions without crashes - played until the end in two sittings without further issues.
Introduction and ending video not playing. Due to this I could not officially finish the game as it would only play the ending audio indefinitely.
I have watched the missing videos afterwards online. I have the feeling to not have missed a significant part of the game.
The game is playable but the occasionnal framerate drops can ruin the experience.
Audio in the opening video is borked. In-game and in other videos, it's fine though.
Framerate sometimes drops noticeably, though since it's not an action game, it has little gameplay impact but still spoils the mood.
Movement keys cannot be rebound. If you're not using WASD, you're out of luck.
It's gorgeous. But the framerate in most areas drops below 20 fps.
Performance degrades the longer I play, regardless of the quality settings. Also, setting everything to their lowest quality barely improves performance.
Don't work
Little lag on FullHD.
